  1. Thanks Noel it was a very pleasant afternoon on one of the best layouts going.
  2. Some videos from Tara junction today......a great way to spend an afternoon! [video=youtube;pCsvwAm-r8A]
  3. Some of the footage that Connaught Ranger previously mentioned is on the 'Southern Yard' YouTube page. Check it out!
  4. JHB some nice footage here of Claremorris in 1986 with a all kinds of liveries on display including supertrain livery. Here's the video of the Ballina branch set capturing that lively experience we all remember.
  5. legends down these parts!! Barry and the gentleman who hitched a lift on B145 on the last day on the Burma Rd!!
  6. Sense of humour! This happened in Ballybrophy which is a long way from Cherryville or Portarlington where the Waterford and Mayo lines diverge. Assume this was a PW working as this section of the Cork line hasn't seen Freight since 2005/06.
  7. Here's a piece of work I did on a Knock special day in Claremorris from an IRRS article. The date was 23-06-1975 and it made for fascinating reading. There were 16 specials and the tables below detail the movements of the day and where they were stored. Unfortunately I was just 5 month old so didn't get to witness.
  8. 1982 is the date of those photos. I have some more will try and dig them out. I'm particularly fond of the last photo, it captures the intricate point work at the north end of the station. Shows the flexibility of the yard. I don't think the Limerick Sligo service ran on Sunday's so they could park 3 trains up the line towards Kiltimagh back to back.
  9. It was some place on busy Knock Sunday's. 12 locos in the view below. Look forward to seeing this layout emerge, I spent a good part of my life so far watching all the comings and goings in Claremorris.
  10. To help this thread here's the station cabin board, the track work reflects the 1950s layout after yard remodelling in the 40s.
  11. Rare cine footage from the 1980s of the WISRA (West of Ireland Steam Railway Association) activities at Attymon. [video=youtube_share;poSxKc_yiow]
  12. Some scenes from the noughties. Seems like a distant memory. [video=youtube_share;65ROYkY25K0]
  13. The 'hardy buck' is Michael Higgins seen in Ballina in 1972.....no worse for wear for his 'walk' to Kiltimagh!
