  1. Hi Tony, Is there any chance you could post a copy of the photo?
  2. This is a great thread, I am glad I found it as I am trying to model the weed-spray train tankers at the moment. I am trying to figure out what I have three tanks in cradles made and painted yellow, but am trying to figure out what colour the frame/flat it sits on is. it looks to me to be brown/gray, looking at the video posted by Mayner on page 8, can anyone advise please? thanks again guys.
  3. I'll just leave this here http://ifiplayer.ie/amharc-eireann-kenmares-last-train/
  4. Perfect engineering and ingenuity. Thank you for all the extra work involved in posting this thread Eoin, it's been a delight to watch your skills bring this together. That is a bit understated, but I'm lost for words.
  5. Hi Harry, This is a great workbench thread, I have really enjoyed reading it, I love the way you get stuck in and get on with it. I hope you get to give us an update soon.
  6. A 'new' Hornby Irish Set, not my cup of tea, but a collector on here might be interested, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R1020-New-Irish-Freight-set-/252777996814?hash=item3adabe220e:g:qB4AAOSwax5YqbHj
  7. This is a great thread I just read it from the start. i missed out on all these great sets and models. My first introduction to model railways was a small Hornby English goods set bought very second-hand at a school sale of work. I still have it and still love it. I painted the little engine green to try make it look Irish when I was kid Thanks for the all the photos on here Wreneire they are a delight to see and an inspiration. There must be a case for some re-releases among all these Irish items. Which models would you like to see available again???
  8. Thank you Wrenneire - I did miss something The 1916 military car and armored cars look fantastic were these just a one-off or are they available and where? I would love to have some. I am really enjoying your thread 'Lima Murphy Models' at the moment, I am about two thirds through it, it's a great thread, well done and thank you for the work you put into it. It's got loads of information for the likes of me who has a lot to learn.
  9. Hi, I spotted this line of text on the home page of the Murphy-Models web-page. Does anyone know what this refers to, or have any information on what it could relate to? Did I miss this completely last year or is it still in the making? I'll take a rake of them, whatever they are "we will have a unique 1916 commemorative item. ETA June. You will have to wait for further details."
  10. You could shorten the platform to suit the material that you do have.

Hi StevieB. I had an old Lima 'Carlsberg' wagon that I had in the end of a box. The length was almost perfect so I was able to leave the whole chassis in one piece and changed the wheels for metal ones. the buffers on it were small square stubby ones, so I cut them off to be replaced. I used thin white vinyl strips as the weld lines on the coach itself, and the sky-lights / vents on the roof are the brass window frames that come with the SSM break van kit. I just used a can of paint from a car shop to paint it. The photo is poor, I will get some in day light that might show it better.

Can't thank you enough guys for the help. I will be sure to get photos up when it's finished, but it could be some time away. I am moving on to the weed-spray tanks and containers now. Using SSM detail kits on the Dapol tanks, and will be chopping a couple of 40' containers down to 20' on Dapol chassis. then there is the spray wagon itself, I have an old BR coach I might use, but haven't looked at it in any detail yet. I love the site and all the information and help you guys share. Many Thanks, Leo

Many thanks for all your help Gentlemen. Here are a few photos of the build as it stands at the moment. I still have a few bits to do. Put on the transfers, a coat of matt varnish ant the finishing painting touches. I am waiting on a drill bit to arrive before I put on the handrails at the doors. I still need to source suitable buffers, any help in finding these would be very much appreciated? I have been looking but its hard to tell which ones are suitable. Any other comments also wanted, thanks again. Leo
  15. I have been working on the SSM model and am near to finished. Has anyone run these models, I am not sure if it has enough weight. It's my first brass kit and I used supper-glue to build it. Should I add a weight inside the van? The models above are superb, and great encouragement for us with less experience. Leo.
