Thanks for the info re painting. I went with an acrylic matt black in the end.

 

Now a glazing question, the engine room windows in photos always looks completely black. Is this simply down to dirt, or lack of light behind, or were they blackened in some way? Was the glass opaque or clear? I can't find a decent close up photo showing these windows.

 

Any ideas?

Well on this orange and black livery, you can clearly see the inside of the windows.

The way i did the glass was using cd covers. When cut to the right size and put in, i coated the whole of the rear of the window with satin acyrilic varnish, which acts as a glue for the glazing, and tones down the visibilty through to the inner workings. HTH. Richie

 

thats a great idea - must give that a lash!
