Some fab photos here!

I hope it's okay to post a couple of pics of my old Lima N-Gauge models.

The loco was in a box for about 30 years. I took it out recently and put it on some track and it wouldn't go at all. So I took it apart, gave the wheels a good clean, and added a few drops of oil, and gave it a run in, and it's running reasonably smoothly now (though still not great at slow speeds).

Lima produced a small run of Irish N Gauge items

It is believed that as little as 50 of each item were produced in order to test the Irish Market

The items however did not sell well and no more were produced

Wow! I had no idea so few were in existance. I wonder how many have survived to this day? Makes me feel slightly guilty for neglecting mine for so long.

I've owned them since the mid-1980s, when I was far too young to properly appreciate them. I'm not sure whether I was the first owner, but by the sound of things, they had been sitting on a shop shelf a few years if I was. I can't remember whether they came in their boxes or not, but unfortunately I don't have them any more if they did.

Just came across the 1978/79 Lima catalogue (Irish edition). Sadly no CIE stuff in either OO or N gauge. I guess it must have been just before the Irish models were released.

Interesting. The Lima BR Class 33s painted as CIE 215 Supertrain livery A classes were mid to late 1970s as were the BR Mk1 painted CIE Black'n'Tan

Looking back through this thread, it seems the catalogues had an Irish insert. I'm not sure if mine ever had it, but it doesn't now.

Good find Dave.

Above was diecast bogie triang motor.

Did R768 CIE hymek made plastic bogie with Ringfield (silver seal) motor in late 1977/eary 1978? here is the service sheet date 1978 showing R768.

Maybe hornby List R768 CIE with new chassis with ringfield motor in 1978 but never production for Irish market?

I got copy of New Hornby Book of trains today.

Hornby Irish Slainte express train set in 1976 Sold through Kilroy Brothers of Dublin ( included solo irish Hymek and MK2 coaches).

Do any know information about Kilroy Brothers of Dublin sell hornby Irish stuffs to some Irish dealers?

I did not know Kilroy Bros distributed model trains or toys. I remember them as distributors of electrical appliances, and specifically remember they distributed Bush Televisions. If memory serves me correctly they were located on Liffey St,  on the site currently occupied by Marks & Spencer.

They had a warehouse on Shanowen Rd, Santry. Mainly electrical wholesalers but were listed in the Tri-ang Hornby official service dealers list

I see it says Shanowen Rd Whitehall! Trying to be posh.

Also listed Monck Place and the Southern Model Railway Co. Lr Leeson St

Holy sacred cow! You have some seriously good 0 gauge diesel loco scratch builders in MRSI. This is going to be something else altogether. 👍

I dream one day about having a 10ft x 2ft shunting layout with a 141 and a few of 2 axle CIE wagons.

Couple of points,
The A Class is IRL Number 4 and the C is IRL Number 6, which would suggest there are a few more in between
These 2 kits were manufactured in their Cardiff premises whereas the 201 unnumbered kit was manufactured in their Burnham premises
Any more out there?
