ttc0169 Posted May 31, 2013 Share Posted May 31, 2013 I bought a MM 071 sound chip earlier today off Mr Graham and I've fitted it to loco 085, First impression is that its a good sounding chip with lots of useful functions, The engine sounds a lot like the refurbished engine that was fitted (and still is) to loco 076 and 112 as when the loco is idling its in a high rev, One of the functions-F4 is used for shunting at slow speed but with a high engine rev-which I like, Also when idling a compressor noise can be heard every so often which in my opinion is not quite right but i can live with it, I would give it 9/10. 086,085 and 077. Here is a list of 201 functions Key Function F0 Light front light F1 sound on/off F2 high pitched airhorn F3 low pitched airhorn F4 high beam F5 compressor F6 acceleration/brake time, shunting mode/shunting speed F7 curve squeal F8 cab light F9 fan F10 conductor's signal F11 coupler F12 sand F13 brake release / brake set F14 short airhorn (high pitched) F15 short airhorn (low pitched) F16 open / close door F17 rail clank F18 valve F19 diesel manual notching (up) F20 diesel manual notching (down) Below is the video with the sounds without the engine running. F7 curve squeal, only works when loco is moving but I don't thinks it's very good anyway. F13 not found what that does. F17 rail clank ??? Every thing else is not bad except for F3 & F15 horns very poor. As far as I can see the chips delivered by PM are manufactured by ESU, someone had put some pictures to one of the threads here. Every ESU chip I ever saw and bought had that typical white badge showing the week of production and code of batch. If the sounds are the same as those from the ESU site I don't know, every word from me concerning that would be purely speculative.
