Love the signs!   They were one of the parts l liked doing the most on mine 😄

There is a comfort to be had in modelling when you sit back and admire your work.  Pleased that you made it. An enjoyable aspect.

Hi Everyone, Great running session today, trying out new stock recently purchased, 16 IRM Magnesite wagons, IRM weed spray train and Silver Fox coach kit, IRM ploughs on ballast train, NIR ballast wagons refurbished and fresh looking, and home made 30 year old bogie pallet wagons freshened up. The murphy models 121 was a prize won in the Bangor show draw in April this year, Lucky me, Regards TDR

Fabulous layout, running session pictures and impressive stock ! - very well done "The Derry Road".

A question for you: in the context of the new IRM Mark 2B/C coaches, I'm trying to decide whether to opt for the orange or black roofed variants - I am generally modelling in the broad orange and black period, have a number of 121s & 181 locomotives, plus quite a few of the lovely new IRM A Class's, any suggestions, particularly visual impact ?.

Many thanks,

George

Hi George, its really down to personal choice, i have quite a few mk2s, but just 6 have the black roofs, and i seem to favour running these over the others, I will eventually be repainting some mk2b stock with the black roof varient to run along with this set (opposite direction) of course. Visual effect , I prefer the black roof, purely because they appear to be more Irish looking, However its your choice or if funds permit invest in both. TDR

Ray if you're interested in swapping orange for black roof mk2's feel free to message me. I have at least 3 mk2d's with the black roof, a restaurant and two standards I think. These are too late for my chosen era (1995). I would be happy to swap for equivalent orange roofed mk2's in IE livery if you have any interest.

Hi phil, over a number of years I gathered surplus lima mk2bs and airfix mk2ds with the intention of spraying them into Irish liveries to keep costs to a minimum, so I will be painting these into choosen liveries early next year.  but thanks for the offer, someone on the site might be interested if you open the swap to the forum. TDR

Hi All, A very busy period getting some more details ready for the layout, including AWS ramps, warning cones and barriers, clocks and chairs for the signal box interior, gas cylinders. Some military and police vehicles for a vintage show diorama, and a rake of 13 Premier Mollasses wagons, will post more pics when placed on layout. TDR

Hi All, just a quick update with some pictures, I’ve spent the last 6 months, making, modifying, detailing and painting many, many bits and pieces. Today I started placing some of these on the layout starting with the town area, road works, bar fight, police check point on railway bridge and a loco scrap yard, much more has to be done in these areas , but its a start, I will also be adding several more in the next few weeks to other areas too,  Some pictures contain loco Surgery LOL  enjoyTDR

Excellent all round.

Love the Scrap Yard, but it does bring a tear to the eye.
Fond memories of days gone bye !

It was an idea i had for two old Q kits that had become brittle and started showing signs of cracks, so rather than bin them i thought of placing them in a scrap yard TDR

I always had this idea of doing a UTA / early NIR layout if a RTR AEC set ever appears; and on one side of the railway I would have a gable wall covered in hardcore republican graffiti, and on the other something covered in hardcore loyalist graffiti! All the clichés in one...... RUC vans, young lads with petrol bombs, British army jeeps, the works.......while a 2.6.4T (real!) Jeep made its way past with a ballast train, and an AEC set pottered through in the other direction on the 11:15 to Londonportadown.....
