Any idea of the length from Fortwilliam to station.

I measured it today using my car milometer, its 1 mile from the Roundabout to York Rd Station. If I've got it right that would mean in 4mm scale a length of 21.12 meters!

Google Maps has the distance from the Dock Rd bridge (at the Central Station end of Yorkgate's platforms) to the roundabout end of the slip road off the motorway at Fortwilliam as 1.4 miles. In 4mm scale this would equate to a length of 29.57 metres!

That would equate to two short stretches of line which jointly held the steepest in Ireland for 5ft 3 in the past. One was a short stretch just beyond King Magnus' Grave at Downpatrick, and the last quarter-mile approaching Hillsborough from the Knockmore Junction direction. They were, I think, about 1:65.

That's a big section of track for a layout 70+ft wow some shrinking needed as I only want this layout which will run end to end to be one side of my garage. Il send all the still shots to David they are crystal clear and show all the detail. And hopfully he can shrink it down to te required length. Once again guys many thanks. I was considering it but I've just got the wife to agree to letting me get a layout never mind a bigger garage although a divorce might not be a bad idea either

Appeal to her home economics. The garage extension will be cheaper than the divorce so you'd be saving money:rolleyes:
