The original and best livery! Do some of them still have their front gangways? If so, I hope its applied to some of those for the real authentic look!

It feels like yesterday when they first came out ....

Yeah the unit in question is 2601/02. It still has its gangways. An authentic (ish) return of the arrow livery

  2. A slightly different story

    An interesting discovery

Kevin meany posted recently on the GSRPS Facebook group about some of the loco plates he has as decoration on his layout. Upon posting the sulzer plates, the group realised these plates were not like the ones off the B101 class

Well upon further investigation by myself, @jhb171achill and kevin, between us we found out that these plates belonged to none other then CIE Diesel Pioneer B113. Kevin has had them for years and has never once thought about where they actually came from!

So have a look at your layout bits….you never know what you might find!

Funny thing Westcork, mine also stripped the pinion gear within a few hours running. Rodrick did supply a new gear FOC for me to fit. I have washerd the lateral play to the absolute minimum keeping the worm in the centre of the pinion. Although with straight cut gears that should not be so much of a problem. The worm teeth on my loco are so sharp you could shave with it!

Yup, sounds identical to what happened to mine. And Rodrick had it repair d free of charge including the postage to get it there and back but alas it still isint working right. I love 00 works and I without them there is no way in hell I would have ever gotten a RTR CBSCR loco (the most unlikely thing ever) but it’s purley for stationary use nowadays.

It looks like a couple of J15s had gearbox issues in Raheny in 2022 ....

I remember attending the Blackrock show in 2022 and a J15 was working Castletown/ballygluin. I went there around midday and watched the J-15 completely fail meaning a deisal sun had to come in. The lads were not pleased and I explained to one of them my issues with my loco. I think one of them offered to fix mine free of change, but that was too generous an offer for me so I refused. I think they eventually managed to fix it (posted in this thread somehere)

On fictional liveries, someone (maybe it was on this group?) had one done up in freight grey, looked quite well I thought...

That’s it! I remember the owner numbered is 213 because that was the one named river not that flowed through foxford and ballina, where he was hoping this livery would by applied to 201s!

  5. Hate to be pessimistic but. Wouldn’t be suprised if pre orders were cancelled and everyone having to pre-order again via rails system. Credit card information is one of things that those pre-orders hinged on from memory

  6. Yup. The reason they were got rid of them was a slightly non standard design next to something like a J26

the model itself just does not work. For all me and Rodrick attempts to make it work. The gears just wear themselves to naff. I suspect it’s something to do with the wheels as a pose to the worm and wheel like I previously suspected.

I’ll still keep it because these locos often worked Cork-Kinsale. I don’t run models all that often anyway. It’s just a shame this model will likely never run again unless I paid for serious surgery

there's no way under the sun they'd allow it to go nose first, so pairing will, I guess, be mandatory.

From what I have heard it is indeed possible to do this as long as you have somone on the other side of the cab. of course maintaining a turntable is much cheaper then paying for a 2nd man to be there (remember these were the days where they were trying to bring costs down) to get rid of the fireman and the driver to just the driver.

And it’s not like all of the cravens have to be in use either. I know that effects finances but my interpretation is diesel is cheaper to run then steam!

.When the 2600s were new, Connolly drivers christened them as the “Fanta Cans”; one suggested to me later when the navy blue, white and lime green livery appeared, that they were niw turning them into Lilt cans!

Ironically lilt and the last commuter liveried 29k both went extinct around the same time

I think Fanta cans compared to “cattle trucks” which is what Wikipedia said there nickname was, is slightly more humerus and I’ve actually heard people call it Fanta cans in the wild even 15 or so years after they last wore orange. Maybe one day there will be another Fanta can

    A Class 66 in Black'n'tan?

An A class in An Garda livery? (A la class 37 in police livery)

    A 22000 in Arrow livery?

This will be interesting to watch

I’ll always recomend this thread which has not quite those things, but pretty close

(I think if you click on the image it brings to northern blue 109s flickr with some fun and some serious “what ifs” in Ireland and beyond)

Sorry, This is just information I have that I either was informed of or observed for myself.

During the autumn or winter months there tends to be a period of non stop failures, and that can happen for up to 2 weeks.

I will send an updated version tomorrow.

What I meant by bad record was just LOOK at how many failures there was in 2022. I was not commenting on your book keeping in fact, this is a good easy way to keep track (infact it should be plugged into Excel to make pie charts and the like)

what I’m saying is the DD’s look great, have. Lovely GM at the head, but with a record like that it’s getting easy to justify a replacement
