I'd be very surprised if Paddy did not cover that in any contract
I agree. That reinforces that the correct thing for Paddy to do us take action against the factory.
I suppose he can claim for the loss of gross profit on each loco. That would be a figure that Paddy could substantiate.

Surely he already has that to cover warranty jobs?
If they are unnecessary and / or don't sell over the course of the warranty period, he can bin them himself, and knows that nobody can put the stuff up for sale.
Or he could do what IRM did with the sale of Diki Taras.

I was under the impression that the 121s sold out years ago and the only way to get one is to buy second hand (at prices north of €300).
So, unless Murphy Models have some to sell, how are they losing out? I suppose it all depends on the wording of their contract with the factory re excess production and intellectual property matters.

Presumably this would include wholesale demolition of all properties and structures that were built on the original formations.....
Or a revised alignment.
No problem for road builders, but somehow is used as an excuse for not reopening a railway.

With all the money in the world! I would love to see a narrow gauge rail system to all the remote villages in the country linking to a rail system covering each large town and city properly.
Including Abbeyfeale, Brosna and Castleisland.

The OP says "If there was all the money in the world to bring meab back.....". With "all the money in the world" then all the infrastructure and other issues mentioned in this thread can be overcome.

So, while I prefer 141/121s, B101s, and (better still) steam; 071s appeared in my late teens, so I still see them as “new” engines…….
Where do the 201, 22000 and CAF fit into this scheme?

I know what you mean, but it's either a certainty or it's not a certainty.

Sad news indeed. Noel was a great railwayman and a great person and he will be greatly missed. Condolences to his loved ones, family, friends and colleagues.
Rest in Peace Noel.

Not quite the info you seek, but will give you hopefully inspiration of that subway area.

Superb video. Amazing that it exists. Really enjoyed watching for the railway and old Belfast interest and No 1 with 800 at Lisburn.

Great modelling. I recall seeing 6 and 7 at Dunmurry when Dad took us for a walk along the trackside path.

It is my recollection that the C class were purchased for PW trains, not lignite. NIR ended up with more C class than planned because CIE were literally giving them away. We later discovered why LOL.
Regarding lignite, the plan was to acquire new wagons and locomotives (GM Co-Co aka 111 class) funded by the terms of the contract.
It never happened because of the adverse environmental impact.
The lignite traffic was being considered around the same time as nationwide flows of refuse to a mega landfill site at Maghermorne. Again it was stillborn because of environmental objections.

In the early 1970s, there were still QUITE a few linen mills going - Barbours in Lisburn, one of the biggest, went in into the 1980s at least.
The two big mills in Lisburn that were adjacent to the GNR(I) were Stewarts which was demolished in 1985 and Hilden (Barbour Threads) which closed February 2006.
