Thanks for that. It's DC and I'm in Raheny in Dublin.I don't have a copy of it and it's difficult to draw.Basically it's a single track layout that gives the impression of a double track mainline with a return  loop. It involves a long hill to an upper level. One double track loop also.

You could take a photo of the plan & put it up here.

The more information you provide, the more we can try to help.

  2. It might help if people knew where you are ?

Are you in DC or DCC ?

    More information is needed ?

I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Ideal way to start a small O gauge light railway terminus or shunting plank. Incredibly cheap !

Seriously tempting even though I have no O gauge track or stock 🙄

I presume they deducted UK VAT from your invoice?

I'd really like an answer to that too as on Facebook it's being rumoured that Rails won't deduct UK Vat on international orders!

Rails always deduct the UK Vat.

Postage can be a little higher than Hattons but the orders are securely packed & arrive by registered Royal Mail post.

When the parcel arrives in Dublin you are sent a card by An Post with details of the Vat to be paid.

Once the Vat is paid online the package is released for delivery.

Whether you are charged the An Post handling fee of €3-50 seems to be a bit hit & miss.

It is unfortunate that these coaches have gone to Rails rather than Accurascale.  I have no idea how Rails will deliver these (I had mine going to my trunk with Hattons) or how much postage will cost.

Postage with Rails will certainly be more expensive than Hattons.

There's not much stock left in Hattons now and final orders must be placed by 2pm tomorrow.  The clear out of stock didn't take long in the end.

I'd say most of their stock was either returned to the manufacturer or else bought in bulk by another retailer as there was very little on sale in the first place after the closure was announced.

  7. Question for anyone running one of these on DCC ?

I can switch on the headlights but I can't switch on the cab lights from my NCE Power Cab.

    Anyone have this problem ?

I can switch the cab lights on & off with the wand but not from the handset ?

  8. I got an SR Green one last week from Rails.

Ran it in on a rolling road, stuck a Rails connect decoder in it & put it on the layout.

It runs fine with no bogie problems that I have noticed.

Nice loco at a reasonable price.

Hhmmm, started the same year I did! Look at my "Username".

They clearly state Brexit as a reason -

Well I marched against it and I hope to be a party to replacing one of the gentlemen who supported it with a good Liberal Democrat at the next election.

Michael Gove, in case you're trying to guess!

    Gove the back stabber.

A weasel if there ever was one 🙄

I've been trading with Hattons since the late sixties.

  10. That's very sad to hear.

If a company like Hattons can't continue then what hope have other smaller concerns.

Been in business a very long time.

I was purchasing from them back when they used brown paper & string.

I'd say Brexit has screwed them as it has a lot of other British companies.

Their website seems to be down at the minute ?

  11. Sounds like a fellow whose wife told him to sell off some of his models as she needs a new sofa.

"I tried hun but no one would buy them" 😉

I wish him luck, lots of it because at that price he's going to need it.

I think I might have to do just that. Problem is I had planned another S bend in the goods yard. I tried the procedure with an S bend 3rd radius track and it went fine, so I might use that in the yard. Cant do it on the outer loop though as I dont have the space. Think I will extend the straight section before the curve, thereby letting me connect with a straight track to the points. Confused ?. I am confusing myself. Pics might make it a bit clearer. Its still very annoying that the  wagons wont run over the 2nd radius S bend though. Especially after pulling up the old layout because of derailing problems. Sigh...... Modern stuff being engineered too finely in my humble opinion. Older stock never seemed to present these kind of problems.IMG_20231030_115442.thumb.jpg.e36658dd67e49217a5fcd8d272c17045.jpgIMG_20231030_115552.thumb.jpg.fa2abe11bc91044891e9886ce47d7b37.jpg

    Hi Derek.

What you could do is put a left hand point where I have marked on the photo.

That would eliminate the s bend.

Okay lads. I need some help here. Was trying out the outside loop with the A class and some bubbles. Keeps derailing at the same spot, at an S in the track. I took out the offending section and here is what is happening close up. So is it the bubbles or the track. Track is 2nd radius. Very frustrating.

Simple answer, get rid of the S bend.

S bends are not a good idea anywhere on a layout.
