  1. Hi all,

Things have gotten a bit out of hand here so I've removed a few posts. Ad hominem attacks are out of order.

Can we please stay on topic and remain civilised while discussing the models in question? The banhammer has been kept in its case for a long time now and it would be great if it could be kept there. Cheers!

I have added locos into my basket, but at the checkout screen, I am not seeing any Partial.ly payment option?

EDIT: just spotted the Partial.ly option at the bottom of the screen!

I had this issue too last year I believe. You have to select partially it in the step before you go to the checkout IIRC. I asked this same question a few months back if you want to search for it.

Gents, just to clarify, Partial.ly is only accepted for pre-orders with at least a six-month lead time as goods are not reserved until payment is completed in full. The 141/181s are due in approximatley six weeks.

I wonder if ANYONE can produce a photo of one of the corrugateds with a Snail logo, however small?

It looks like you've made it home safely, Leslie - it was good to see you at the show in Blackrock!

There are a few photos of wagons with the Flying Snail on the solebar, including one here: http://www.athyphotos.gallery/railway-station.html

It's the second photo on the left - the wagon is behind three members of staff posing for the camera. If you open the image in a new window you can zoom in and see the logo on the side.

Another one which comes to mind is a shot by George Mahon which can be viewed in the IRRS's Flickr archive (IRRS membership required in order to view): https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/50356805096/

    Hope that helps!

  4. It's not import duty, it's VAT which is different. By rights, any UK retailer should be removing VAT from the price charged to you if the goods are being shipped to Ireland so you do not end up paying the tax twice on the purchase - as it will be collected by the carrier on behalf of Revenue when the goods are imported into the country.

Import duty is a seperate charge applied at varying rates to products which qualify for it. Under WTO agreements, model railway equipment does not incur duty so such charges should not be applied to the goods when being imported.

Now that I think about it, they should get themselves PS5's and GTA Online...

@Sean and @Branchline121 are GTA veterans so will back me up here.

There are a couple of updates per year, new rewards and new challenges (just like IRM) so you never actually "finish" the game, you just grow old and die trying (just like collecting IRM stuff)...

  6. Ah, so that's where it's ended up! It was used during the construction of the Luas, then spent some time stored at Red Cow, and was most recently spotted in an industrial estate in Portlaoise, not far from the ICR depot.

    How it looked previously:

    Richard Diesel Locomotive ENG-5873-13-006.

If you have the same log in for IRM & Accura

    Thankyou

If you have the same log in for IRM & Accurascale, does it combine the rewards, points etc. or are both websites separate?

I wonder how many Platinum (lottery winners) there are lol

You will have two different point balances as the websites are separate platforms.

Yup, that's pretty much exactly what I wrote, although I was a lot more concise.

    Hi Dave,

I was just adding context to allay any concerns that we might be unable to fulfill our warranty obligations. As I said above, drop us a line and we'll see what we can do re. the parts you still require.

Yup, I'd never post without first speaking in private.

But you definitely have no bodies, chassis nor bogies in stock, warranty or no, that much was very clear.

Don't have the emails to hand as I'm out, but can quote exact wording later if you need.

    Hi Dave,

As it was me you were in contact with regarding this, I just want to clarify a few things here.

Firstly, it should be pointed out that the reason you contacted us was not warranty-related.

Regarding bodies, chassis and bogies, any fundamental issues involving these parts would have been detected within a short space of time after the locos first arrived, and if there were any issues the affected loco(s) would have been set aside and replaced with an equivalent from a reserve we had put in place (in the end this was not required and the reserve stock was released).

I did also point out that we have supplies of most other parts available to cater for any warranty cases that arise. We don't offer these parts for sale at present as we have to ensure availability for warranty work for at least 12 months after the very last new A Class model is sold to the end user. One reseller was advertising availability as recently as January, so I'm sure you can appreciate why we need to conserve stocks for so long. However, from posts I've seen elsewhere, I believe the rebuilding of your loco is now substantially complete, so if you want to email me a list of the small parts still required, I'll ask our technician to check these stocks and we'll see if we can make some available for you.

Well, the RPSI has no obvious plans for running 184 / 186 again so why not a loan, given suitable assurances as to the loco's well-being?

The running costs for a J15 would likely be prohibitive for a preserved line, too.

  11. It sounds like you're trying to access the old Irish Railway Modeller Forum (now closed and has no connection to this one), which was hosted on a service called Yuku, which has now become Tapatalk.

Is this a joke? I know the IRM A class are the best RTR models of Irish railway prototypes going but that is mad.

    From the ad:

"For sake of clarity loco and carriages being sold together"

A set of Murphy RPSI Mk2 coaches are also included.

...While 134 is fully done up, poor 124 sadly rots away under tarp along with other rolling stock within Moyasta, Co. Clare - it's a sad fate, that only surviving Mark 3 DVT's body is now corroding from the elements! I genuinely wish they were in a better place...

If a better place was available, then they'd be there. ;)
