Posted (edited)

Someone on RM web recently dug up one of his past posts on projects he has been part of.

2 things really jump out, as in it he claims, to have "designed" the IRM ballast and bubble wagons on commission.

Sad to hear. Just goes to show pre-paying for models can be a risk.

It's some forms of crowdfunding business models that are the risk to be fair. Pre paying for models is relatively risk free form established business entities.

The mechanism of crowdfunding is not the issue, it’s the execution. If you look at how Revolution Trains has constantly delivered it in the British market it demonstrates how it can and should be done. It’s always worth doing your homework on the company first.

Thankfully in the early days of IRM we got the measure of this guy and sacked him, taking over the projects ourselves. It’s fair to say we had a very lucky escape, and could write a book about the carry on. But that’s for another day. The sad part of this is the amount of honest customers burned by him.

He certainly didn’t design them, they were designed in China with our feedback and corrections. Both projects required major revisions when we took them over as he failed to communicate the corrections  to the Chinese designer and we decided to do in house CAD design thereafter.

Presume the NEM pocket location was part of his helpful contribution. 😂 You made the right call to break off and take it in house, ever since that chassis everything that followed seemed flawless not to mention superbly accurate and detailed. Onwards and upwards.

Some of the sad part is from what I can see on RM web. The amount that got burned with the DJM 92 and are afraid to take a punt on the Accurascale 92, asking if they are crowdfunding too. Alot of them are presently surprised too that it's actually got to tooling because of the shinanigans of others. They're finally starting to appreciate the Accurascale brand and business model.
