The RPSI will be holding its first Model Railway Day at Whitehead Excursion Stationwith a line-up of over two dozen marvelous miniature model railway layouts, full size steam train rides, refreshments, etc. All this, and the Museum exhibits too! Refreshments will be available in the CIE dining car for this day only. Whitehead Edwardian Tea Room in the Excurssion station building will also be serving food all day.
Opening: From 10am until 5pm. Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, Whitehead Railway Museum.
Models: There will be many model railway layouts positioned around our Museum including for the first time in Ireland Peter Smith's Saltdeane layout from England featuring a brewery.. Patrick Davey's NCC narrow gauge diorama, Tony Ragg's Sandfording O gague layout and Debra Wenlock's Hornby O Gauge tinplate whixxing around.
Train Rides: Visitors will be able to see at close hand how the magnificent locomotive works. Trains will be running every 15 minutes or so beween 12 and 4pm.
