  1. Hi,

many thanks for all the information.

I like to add another questions: What's about the 2axle post vans? Did they also show the bare metal colour? Page 30 of Barry Carse's book on the Metro-Vicks seems to show a post van in silver (in the very right corner of the picture).

  2. The 201 looks really great.

And so do the Mk3 gen vans - stunning!

And even better is the fact that they are on their way to become part of my collection of irish railway models.

    Thank you Tony!

  3. What a funny thread this is!

First I am really surprised to see MY(!) green D class (surrogate) in a thread not started by John of SFM or myself. So I am curiuos where those pics are from.

Second I want to point out that both models are kindly made by John because I asked him to do so. And I must admit that I like them even if they differ from the prototype.

Third I like to say thanks to all those who marked all the little mistakes so I will correct some of them.

Fourth I have to pointout that I do not really understand the infuriation (I found that word in the dictionary - hope it's right) about repaints like these. I bought my first "irish" loco (a BR 33 / A- class) in a shop in Clonmel nearly twenty years ago and was so damned happy. We are quite spoiled these days.

Finally I hope that I was able to express myself properly as this is not my native language - da hab' ich mir schon einen abgebrochen bei, kannste glauben.

  4. Hi,

I asked John and he said he would do only the darker orange but I could get kits from him. I have no experience with overlays and no idea of prices (kits or overlays).

So any offer is welcome. Well - and I am baesd in Germany. It is about 20 years ago I used to live near Kilkenny for a while.

  5. Hi everyone

I am looking for two mk3 gen vans. John from Silverfox offers those RTR but not in the lighter IE orange. As I have two rakes of mk3s in those livery I wish to have gen vans in the matching colour. Unfortunately my modelling skills are low. Does anyone know a person who would assemble and paint two kits for me for a reasonable price?

    Regards, Frank

    Hi,

here might be (if it works out) a pic of my turf burner and another pic of the former SL&NCR railcar also made by Iain Simm.

The last pic is my first attempt to scratch build a model. Does anybody know how the rear and the right hand side of that railbus looked?

  7. Hi,

it might be of interest that a guy from the UK - Iain Simm - made a resin model of the turf burner on my request. Maybe he would make some more. As far as I remember it is a tiny bit smaller than 1/76 to give the loco a less massive appearance. I will try to post a photo of it the next days if I manage (my attempts to post photos never really work out)
