Spotless Hornby boxed 3 coach pack in presentation outer box. Never gets run as I'm switching tomallmirish rolling stock. Metal wheels on all bogies, illuminated table lights, loads of carriage detail on skin fittings, presentation quality and going for £100 unboxed on ebay

Thanks for that
It's left over track from my first train set present years ago. Most of the curve radius are not suitable for modern loco's or rolling stock. I must post some images of it, it was a French loco but poor quality

Hi Rory,
Sounds like arcing between the rails, the power is jumping from one track to the other and generating heat as a result. I never rely on the joints in the track to distribute power, I solder droppers to every piece of track.
As dirt builds up between the rail and the joiner the electrical connectivity breaks down and arcing is produced.
Have you got power connected in just one place or spread equally around the layout?
Thanks for the help, appreciated

Evening Modelers..
I run a layout on DCC. This evening I noticed what looked like sparking coming between two track joints. When I inspected closer I saw that it was actually the glow of heat being generated between the two track joins and the plastic sleepers underneath were melting.
I have run the layout for a year and this is the first time I would have seen this. One track piece as new hornby and the other track was old jeouf from the seventies but cleaned and with a new hornby track join slotted in
Appreciate any thoughts on what could have caused this and how I prevent in future. I always have the entire layout unplugged when not in use

The 071 and 201 are loco specific, mainly because of the lights,
and there is a good difference between each loco as the recordings
are from real 201 and 071 locos.if you check out YouTube under-Irish
loco with sound, you can see my own and Gerry Byrnes Locos.
As far as I know the Wexford show will be on this Easter.
If you are ever in Wexford, you are welcome to give me a shout
if you want a demo of any of these locos with sound.
Eamonn
Might just take you up on that as im from Gorey and head up there every couple of weeks, I got talking to Tommy Nolan who grew up accross the road from my grandparents, small world!!

Thanks Enniscorthyman
Does the 071 chip work with the 201 or are they loco specific?
Do you know when Wexford Model Railway Club are having their annual show again?
Cheers
Hi FolksI want to buy 1/2 sound chips for my DCC ready loco's
I have a new release MM 201 and 181 that I want to convert, both have 21 pin slots
Any recommendations on which chips work best with these or give the least problems? The 201 as you know already has a speaker fitted
Cheers

Hi Folks
Only just joined the Forum and new to model railways. Currently building a 9 x 4 layout and addiction has set in. Met some good folk at the recent Wexford MRC show over the bank holiday weekend
I've just got a new MM Class 201 (#203) and love the attn: to detail, slow running action, lights, everything. So I want to build up more Irish stock (currently have a pendolino which is a great runner and a flying scotsman)
Whats the main difference if any between the Class 141 and 181? Do any come with speakers fitted, are they all DCC Ready (which is what I want as im going the DCC Route), id intend using it for shunting hornby/bachmann wagons
Do they run particularly well with any specific wagons or coaches? Actually is there any coach that suits the 201 as its uncoupling some of my hornby wagons but admitedly this open happens on tight bends
Where's the best place to go for weathering, any ballpark prices for doing a 181?
Any comments appreciated
