  1. a test layout of the 14ft x 4 ft plan The ultimate master plan, sort of modelled on Noch's Heidleberg The idea in this 14ft x 4 ft is to have two main levels, the inner 1st and 2nd radius on the higher level The outer2 tracks at the lower level for 2nd and 3rd radius The carving of the landscape to have hills and troughs is to make it interesting. Should just take another 20 years
  2. First train was a Jouef from back in the day of them being Irish made. Over 41 years (mostly in the last 20, these were acquired damn hornby for reissuing their APT. 20 years of hoping for one and a ferocious and expensive bidding war on Ebay about 10 years ago. More pointless bidding wars on Ebay for old LIMA 201s My DCC-DC-DCC system the grand plan to carve out Kinspan insulation boards to create a multilevel layout, despite all the advice everywhere not to use Insulation board.
  3. Yup /-) Apologies to all ! ".....Therefore I think one has a LokSound anyway, but they both sound the same. They are both fairly new...." Duh The attached picture is the 071 on the top and the 201 with the 071 chip in place in the bottom I guess that the "chip" in the 071 is a Blanking plate again?
  4. Could this be the blanking Unit? It looks like a chip
  5. Utterly confluthered now, and I may have wasted everyone’s time: I opened up the lid on the 201, took the decoder out, and put in the MM005 DCC chip which is meant for the for the cl.071 And it runs perfect on the 201 , on DCC and DC. I’m wondering now if the chip on the 201 was for some reason buggered? I’m wondering now did I ever put the 071 chip into the 071? Basically : Was I trying to be running them both effectively without chips ? (Assuming that: 1) the the 201’s chip was buggered, and that 2) I forgot to put in the 071 chip into the 071? ) I’ll know the answer tomorrow when I disassemble the 071 to look and see is there a chip (I assumed it was in it - but I seem to have an extra chip for the 071 that is now quite happy in the 201) It’s a wee bit of work to disable that the 071 - - but I’ll know tomorrow. Would a DC train light up its lights and make lots of noise on a DCC track when the speed setting is altered.? Once again, thanks so much to all tom
  6. Thanks guys, I think both of them came DCC fitted, though I think I remember one of them being a nightmare to fit the chip. Therefore I think one has a LokSound anyway, but they both sound the same. They are both fairly new. When I did the CV8, 8 reprogramme as suggest by Irishthump, the only thing i noticed I think was a change was that with each speed increment, that the sound of the Engine changed 1 tone to another - - though neither ever moved. And to answer murphaph, both run on a DC track without removing the chip. thanks t
  7. No joy. both behave in the same way with the efforts. SEND function seems to transfer the data properly repeated cycled through cv8# and then cv8, even with me setting the loco number to 3, but won’t run. Moved it to programme on main, and the same difference All it does is makes a slightly different noise when the speed control is altered by one increment. But they do run beautifully on DC ta t
  8. Hi, I have a IE 201 and also 071 models with DCC from Murphy’s I can’t get them to run on a DCC line. They sit on the main track making their noise, with the lights on, and they run grand on a DC track. The lights don’t respond to the lights on/off on a Guagemaster express controller I’ve tried to reprogram them in a simple way on a Guagemaster express on a programming track, which works for everything else I have, but even with giving them new loco numbers: I can’t get them to run? Is there is a simple set of numbers I can programme in using the Guagemaster express sequence to get them to run? thanks a mil, thomas
  9. Hi, I have an 2 x old Lima 201s which were reasonable runners. They have been packed away for years and I pulled them out and they were running pretty OK. I put on Singer oil and they only ran better after that. But I decided to put a bit more oil onto 1 (including the axels of the pickup wheels. and now it won't run at all. Occasionally it gets 2-3 seconds of power. The rails are clean and the controller is working, and all the other engines, and the other 201 still runs I put a 9V across the middle Co-Co that I know picks up power, but it won't drive the engine. I don't know - did I destroy it my lubing all six pairs of wheels or what? the 9V applied across the electrodes at the motor will drive the motor and turn on the light in either direction, but its like there's no pick up at all from the wheels? Is there anything I can do? thanks Tom
