Hello everyone,
there is a little news. A passenger train, but it doesn't run so well yet, the wooden bogies are not ideal in my opinion... I'm still going to work on that.
A new freight train. The wagons are all different wagons that I painted to match. The sheep wagons were built on 3 LGB bogies.
The most important thing is the locomotive. It is originally from LGB no.: 21741 a BR99. I adapted this locomotive to my style of the West Clare Railway. The windows became round, the sand dome was removed, plus a smaller one with the valve. New lamps, fewer pipes, new sand tanks. And of course everything was repainted. The chimney is also new.
The name of the locomotive is again a mountain from the Burren, Slieve Carran.- 9

Hello everyone,
Thank you for your information and ideas. I had not expressed myself clearly. I meant peat sods. In other words, the “lumps” that have been cut.- 1

Hello everyone,
I would like to represent peat as a load in my trolleys.
Does anyone have any idea how I can represent this on a scale of 1:22.5 (garden railroad)? Thanks

I have a question. Were there ever any railway wagons / goods wagons with Guinness advertising?Thank you in advance and Merry Christmas

I reckon the Germans are looking at us wondering why the hell we haven't got them in place already!
In Germany, it would take 20 years to implement / approve this. We - NO our government and also many citizens preferred to believe in the "good Russians" and to rely on cheap gas. Here in the Black Forest, water reservoirs for hydroelectric power plants were rejected - because they disturb the environment - they were only visible from the plane..... The solar industry outsourced to China... There is no longer a large solar manufacturer in Germany. In Baden Württemberg, only 3 wind turbines were built this year due to lengthy approvals and appeals...
Questions ????
I also only heat with gas ... I didn't think about it either (my new heating system is 4 years old), but now I'm also very sceptical about the future.- 1

Hello together,
I have a question that has only limited to do with railways. For my ship model "Vaterland" KLICK I am looking for figures from the period 1900-1930. The scale is between 1:100 and 1:87. They should not look too modern (short dresses...etc) Preiser figures I know - is there maybe something else ?

HI,
since ship modeling and ships in general are also a great hobby of mine: can anyone say something about these ships (picture 6 ) and the place where the photo was taken? possibly other details ?
Thanks in advance

Expansion of my distillery. The garage wall as background always looked bare. So I planned to build a relief house. By chance I got a cheap PIKO locomotive shed, not quite perfect, especially badly glued. So I could take it apart and build the relief house for my distillery from these parts. The gates of the locomotive shed I "bricked up" with tile glue.
Today I have placed the building.

Hello together,
a little tinkering on the side. I have 6 of these trolley cars. They only look plastic to me - not suitable for an Irish branch line....
I rebuilt the first 3.
So they had to suffer. With a knife and files I worked on the edges. In addition, a few scratches. But the most important: The plastic of the lorry was heated with the blowtorch until it became soft, then I bent a little here and there. After that the whole thing was painted with rust color. DONE.
By heating with the flame, the plastic got a rough surface - I like it that way.
Here an picture Clonmacnoise & West Offaly Railway- 11

Hello together,
So now the Loco is ready.... The locomotive is controlled with RC control from Fosworks. The sound module is from MyLocosound. The batteries are Lithium Ion batteries with 7,4V and 6800 mA. The loudspeaker is installed under the cabin roof. The locomotive looks well used. The right driver is still missing.
The name is like my other locomotives again a mountain in Co Clare.- 7

Although not cheap - in my eyes quite expensive...
But these look the best:But if someone else has an idea - gladly. I'm still looking for something to print myself.
MakeHuman KLICK also seems to be very good - but it doesn't work correctly on Linux for me -
Hello together,
I have a question about figures. I am looking for locomotive personnel in 1:22.5 scale. And in a very special way. They should not look like the "normal" people but with charisma. BUT no caricatures. Just like the figures from: KLICK But these are too big for my locomotives. I ordered some - they look great, but they don't fit in my locomotives.
Where can I find such figures in scale 1.22 to 1.24? Either ready or unpainted or 3D files to print yourself.
Thanks in advance -
Hello all,
it goes on - slowly.... The locomotive is assembled, the eccentrics and the rodding are built. I have attached dummies of the brakes. The substructure in the rear is a bit larger, the speed controller and sound module will be installed here. Accus and receiver should be in the engine compartment.
I have ordered the electronics from Fosworks - let's see how long it takes to ship them to Germany.- 9

I still have an LGB drive lying around - it can't stay like this....
So I am planning a small diesel locomotive. I like an older Fowler. I don't know if such a locomotive was used in Ireland, but I think it would look good. The whole model is a free fiction, only designed according to pictures.
The frame will be made of polystyrene, the superstructure is from the 3D printer, and I will also print the front and rear parts. The drive will again be done with battery and Foswork components. The driver's cab was 1,5mm bigger than the given print area of my printer - but it worked.
That's how it looks so far:Plan:

Hello ,
I'm just cheeky - would it be possible to make the transition in 1/22.5 G scale, possibly in individual segments / parts?
many thanks in advance -

Thank you, this sounds believable

Hello together,
I have another technical question about the water crane at Moyasta station on the West Clare Railway. The water crane at the top a kind of Exenter, when the crane is rotated, it is lifted. What is this function?
thank you

Hello together
- I have searched and found nothing.
For my small Irish village I am looking for some cars.
They should be small and vintage cars, maybe a small bus.
Preferably right-hand drive of course.
Is there anything like that? Thanks in advance

Hi all,
you asked for more info, here is a summary of the build of my Slieve Callan. I have already published this information in the G Scale Central Forum. Here is my latest project. I would like to build a locomotive to go with my "West Clare Railway". I have chosen the only surviving locomotive as a prototype. It will not be a scale replica. As with me, I just want the picture to be right. I have found several pictures of the "Slieve Callan" in the internet.
The motor is old and comes from the "LGB Spreewald Lok 2074", but it is unused.
The loco is built in a scale of 1:22,5, but the proportions are adapted to the drive. The boiler is a piece of tube, the rest is made of 2mm polystyrene. Some complicated parts I have 3D printed.
I run this loco with battery and radio. All the current collectors have been removed from the engine. The power supply is 4 Li-Io cells. I have installed the batteries in the water boxes. The receiver and speed controller are from Fosworks. I have set the speed controller to power curve 3, so the locomotive is slower (approx. 40 Km/h max).
The Loco weighs a total of 2.5 kg. I paint it in dark green (RAL 6005 Mosgreen). I made the lines with thin adhesive tape.OK I think I have collected the most important information, now pictures - and if you want to know something: ask...
The beginning....

Andreas' railway or the new West Clare Railway.
in Irish Model Layouts

Hi,
the rails have a track gauge of 45mm. I use a scale of 1:22.5 as a basis.
The West Clare Railway had a track gauge of 3 ft (914 mm) This does not fit exactly, as 914/22.5 only gives a track gauge of 40mm (but LGB is 45mm).
But visually, on a free model, this is not disturbing.
