  1. @Mol_PMB Thank you so much for sharing the information you have about the 80-class trailer rebuilds and rebuilds of rebuilds. You have answered every question I had regarding these, it's now time to start converting some of the stock I have into some of these trailers.
  2. Hi, I have been researching the NIR mark 2b/c stock and 80 class DEMU centre cars with a view to modelling them from Lima coaches I have stored away. With regard to the hauled stock, please could anyone tell me whether any of the Mark 2c coaches NIR had were fitted with the Mk2d, e, f toilet windows or if they all had the Mk2b type toilet windows? I know the early Mk2c stock had larger roof vents than the later type which had similar Roe Vac roof vents to the Mk2 air conditioned stock. On the subject of 80 class intermediate trailers, the ones that interest me are the conversions from hauled stock. I have checked two sources of reference for these and differing information is provided about the interior layouts. The Harris book documenting Mk2 stock states that 774, 776 and 779 all had 62 seats and 2 toilets, the same book states that 778 and 780 had 76 seats and no toilets. The contradictory information comes from a Platform 5 handbook from 2008 that says all of these had 74 seats and 1 toilet, I'm not sure which is the case. Another query I have is related to driving trailer 754 which I know was converted from push-pull BDTS 811, as built, this would have had 31 seats with toilet, the Platform 5 book says 75 seats and a toilet, if this last vehicle did have 75 seats, that would have been almost a complete rebuild from a brake coach into a full saloon, was 754 so heavily rebuilt?
  3. Please could someone jog my memory as to what shade of blue the B&I Line containers were? I seem to recall two different shades on the hulls of the ships, pretty much midnight blue pre-1986 and a brighter shade that Connacht and Leinster carried after they were internally altered and the blue was swept up aft.
  4. Thanks for the replies fellas, I've sent you a PM Enda.
  5. Hi, would anyone be able to suggest a suitable chassis to build the 14ft 6ins wheelbase 20ft container wagons and 4-wheel timber wagons CIE operated? Thanks
  6. Thank you all very much for your very kind and helpful replies. I've been in touch with Midland Valenta 3D Prints via Facebook and the Lima Mk3 coach end is definitely something which will be included in my IE push-pull conversions. I have four SOs I bought as "spares or repair" which are complete apart from ends and bogies, the latter isn't an issue, as I can either modify the coaches to take altered old Hornby bogies or use the Southern Pride bogie kits with them. The set I'm intending to build will include the unique Cafe/Bar coach, which I intend converting from a Lima Mk3 TGS, but I'm not intending to go down the "straight repaint" route with that one, as it's incorrect to do it that way. As I'm in the UK, I haven't a lot of information to hand about the Mk3 Cafe/Bar. In addition, I've emailed Studio Scale Models regarding their Mk2 EGV conversion kit and Mk3 push-pull conversion parts/decals. Just waiting a reply to that at the moment.
  7. Hi guys, I have some Hornby, Airfix and Lima Mark 2 air-cons I'm looking to convert and repaint into IE InterCity livery. Please could anyone let me know which is the best source for an EGV conversion kit for these? Similarly, does anyone have parts available for converting Lima Mk3 SO carriages into IE push-pull standards? Thanks Paul
