  3. You may have guessed from my User Name where I’m originally from. For those of you haven’t , I am from Newcastle Upon Tyne. In the days of my youth many of us were avid Train Spotters. We were well served with locations, Newcastle itself had two stations, and within bicycle distance there were three Loco Sheds. But that was eons ago in the of period transfer from the individual compnies to the rebel British Rail. So, now that I have returned Railway Modelling , after some consideration I have decided to pin my colours to LNER / LMS regions. Newcastle Central ran a main line service to Carlisle, from which ran a beautiful Branch line connecting Haltwhistle with the there market Town of Alston. The second station in the city (Manors) had a considerable shunting area, where we were absorbed by the antics of the Tank locos dashing hither & thither. The layout is to be named ‘Bikers End’, in appreciation (to me anyway) of the pastime that occupied another large portion of my past life. So now you have it, a life story in minutes. Now then. The layout will have a Main Loop, including a rural station from where springs the Branch Line. Realtively adjacent to the Station will be a representation of a busy Shunting Yard. The grand plan, for which Planning Approval is awaited, is for a typical small town /village scene. The industrial area is already approved , though not finally detailed. It is intended to run a passenger service of 4 wheel carriages pulled by a 2-6-4T loco. The branch line will be operated by a DMU (not historically correct, but I like them). There is to be two 0-6-0 tank locos to carry out the shunting activities. When not occupied on passenger duties the2-6-4T will transport trucks and wagons from far away places. All of this in ‘N’ Gauge on a Six foot by Four foot baseboard. The baseboard is under construction. A layout has been generated in Any Rail. I have the initial motive power and shall laying the first track shortly. I know from painful past experience that these matters can not be rushed. Construction will be in sections, to spread costs.
  4. I'm not sure I am in the right location. Mine is a new layout, but not of an Irish location. Sorry. Do you want me to go elsewhere, and I mean on this site, not somewhere in darkest africa. Regards Geordiekerryman
