  1. I think That some people were saying that 227 228 and 231 would be overhauled and still be enterprise locos but kept in intercity livery with new logos, this didn't happen either This might happen to 231 but I doubt it, but its a possibility
  2. I know they get body overhauls abd new systems but I just said respray because I was in a hurry:) I thought the locos were resprayed and had body overhauls at inchicore but had to go the York Road to be modified with system to haul the De Dietrich's, Or is all of this done in inchicore?
  3. I love the whole design of the De Dietrich's, and ya the cab is designed to reflect the cab of a 201 I think the new livery is stunning! It is a very unique livery on the irish network and will catch passengers eyes, which was intended, the interior also has improved greatly imo, even though the last DD interior was very comfortable, The whole refurbishment project was a great success too, apart from the door failures, but I think (hope)NIR have sorted that out now Will IE respray 231 into the new livery, is it still an enterprise loco? And also will the enterprise locomotives be getting the new Enterprise logo or not?
  4. Thanks, He said he would give me a kit for. Connolly engine shed, and he said he might help me with parts for the roof over the platforms in spare time in the future, but for now its the engine shed I will also try metcalfe and scalescenes, thanks lads
  5. Also how would I buils the arches in the walls ,card?
  6. Hi guys Started laying some track this evening Could somebody give me some advice on how to build the train shed at connolly over platforms 1 to 4 I have done very little scratch building in the past ,some small stuff alright but I want this to be perfect ?
  7. Thanks bosko Thanks for the advice, I will try to make it as "real" as possible
  8. Hi David Theres not really "that" much space, there's just room to walk all the way around it,I know the sections could be a bit wider but the baseboards were built a few years ago so I am trying to build a new layout on it The software I used is anyrail
  9. Hi lads I am going to make a model of Connolly Station The layout is 10x8 ft The baseboards are complete and some new track arrived today!! The layout will be DCC
  10. Hi lads I have changed my mind and I am now going to build a model of Connolly Station This was my first choice but I thought I would be very hard! But I will give it a go anyway, new thread soon!
  11. Jhb171achill, the navan branch curves underneath the station, if I continued it on and I came up as the cement brancg the viaduct wouldn't look right with another track a level down so I have decided to leave the cement branch out!
  12. Just finished my first scale drawing of the layout, I have added a diagonal corner piece to the station side
  13. Hi David You see I already had a layout, but I didn't really like the look of it as it wasn't actually based on any realistic station, so I basically took all the scenery, track, building ect of and riped up the ballast ect, so essentially all I have is a baseboard,. I kbow trying to make the layout fit the baseboard it hard, the only change I made to the baseboard is the space for the viaduct. I will definitely have a scale plan in a few days Oya, the width of the sections is 2ft Thanks for the advice
  14. Thanks for the photos! I will try to have a plan sometime next week or sooner
  15. Thanks alot for taking your time to sketch out your idea, it doesn't have to be to scale or anything, just to get the idea across, but ya I agree with those points!
  16. It is a good idea to add the loop, I will add that in, I might leave out the depot but leave the yard, but I do like the depot
  17. Thanks for the advice David, the base board is nearly finished though!
  18. Hi dave That drawing was only a rough sketch of something similar to what I want, the station will be way bigger in the finished product, I can see where you are coming from though,I plan to do the platform sizes in cad to make them 3-d then I can do a scale computer based drawing do yo know what materials I should use in the bridge
  19. As I said the drawing is a sketch so the platforms would be longer and less Sharpe, I will definitely incorporate the navan branch and the cement factory line, I will have them falling away to a different level behind the platform and emerging as the cement factory line, that was a great idea, anyway this is the first rough sketch of the viaductl
  20. That would be the best way to go about it, I haven't scratchbuilt any buildings before so I will need all the advice I can get, what materials ect?
  21. I like the idea of the navan line for trains entering and leaving the layout, any tips on the viaduct?
  22. Ya, thats a great idea about the navan branch, I think I will try to in corporate it into the design, I hope to finish the baseboards next week and start laying the track, I will definitely try to incorporate the navan branch
  23. [ATTACH=CONFIG]22022[/ATTACH These drawings are not to scale so when it is finished the station and Depot will probably look bigger than in my drawings. I have yet to do it to scale. The boyne viaduct is included in the layout, I will start work in a few weeks and hopefully it will be finished within a year, well I suppose it will never be totally finished as I will always be adding to it!!! I will take any tips ye have! Just to clarify this is a rough sketch of something I would like, its not to scale or anything as I wasn't thinking about that I was am just trying to get my ideas across, I hope to have a scale plan in a few days or so!
  24. The second DD set is way behind schedule for coming back to service, when will it be back?Probably a good while yet!!
