226 Abhann na Suire Posted June 9 Posted June 9 I was on Google Earth yesterday and came across something very odd… Clondalkin Fonthill Station has 2 station buildings… both of which are completely identical on the outside… Does anyone have any idea why this is I have absolutely no clue myself Quote
Metrovik Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Could have something to do with the staggering of the platforms? Just a guess. 1 Quote
226 Abhann na Suire Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Well interestingly all 4 platforms run beneath the first building (the top one in both of those screenshots) which is the one in use, but only the centre two run beneath the lower building, which appears to be completely abandoned. Just odd that they’d build two identical station buildings, seems like an awful waste of money… Quote
irishrailways52 Posted June 9 Posted June 9 my best guess is that it is built like that in case there should be a need for extra capacity in the future. it that is the case though surly it would have been beater to leave the space for a 2nd building and build it when required. perhaps it will see use with dart + 1 Quote
