Just a reminder to anybody in the area that a model railway exhibition will be operating on the 26th and 27th from 12 to 6 and 12 to 5. If anyone is in the area please do pop by. Admission is free and there is plenty more to see around the town during the weekend.

With the Dunshaughlin harvest festival right around the corner on the weekend after next, I felt I needed to assemble a more prototypical(ish) band of rolling stock. Nothing here is accurate whatsoever, but I think it all captures the feel quite nicely. Figure 1. Tramore on an unidentified date in circa early 1960s. Here can be observed the variety of liveries of Irish coaching stock at that time. In the center foreground can be seen an unusually clean Bullied full break "Tin-Van" a prototype vehicle of which only one made. (or at least thats the excuse I'm running with.) Unfortunately, the colour film used to take this shot has deteriorated. Tramore again, circa 1962. In the background the 5.00pm service from Manor street pulls into the station comprised of an AEC railcar DMU and a park royal coach, specially modified for use on the line. The middleground see's an unidentified j26 shunting some of the lines few goods vehicles in the yard. Resigned to freight work since the advent of the AEC sets, these steam engines formed the backbone of services on the line for over 20 years. Another J26 hauls the 15:30 service from Tramore to Manor street on the 15th August 1936. Following takeover of the W&T by the GSR, these engines were transfered from former MGWR teritory by being driven down the street in steam using temporary track moved using a "leapfrog" system. As I said, none of this is historically or prototypically accurate but its good fun and captures the feel.

Your selection of photos may not be possible without the IRRS flicker but I appreciate the effort nonetheless. Thanks for details about what type of transfers are required. Am I right in saying the chassis was originally silver as well?

Sorry, should have been more specific, I'd be looking at the heating or luggage vans. Mainly I'm trying to figure out was the roof silver and as you said, which bits were not silver. Many thanks.

I've been trying to get a clear picture of what way the silver livery was applied to tin vans from new but I can't seem to find a consistent view. Could anyone shed light on the subject?

Having gotten an airbrush and paints recently I was about to start painting when I realised that I have no airbrush cleaner. Is specific airbrush cleaner a must or are there at home alternatives? All help and advice with relation to airbrushing much appreciated.

Might throw my inexperienced hat into the ring here. Having exhibited at exactly 2 shows with my small shunting layout I have found that the general public seem to more enjoy a brief chat than actually the running of trains themselves. I've also found that minimal activity works well on a small layout. Just my opinion.

Well thanks to the leaving cert it's been 9 months since I've posted here. But for once I do have a substantial update! Following the purchase of a bachmann 105 which is suitably prototypical-ish looking for me to represent an aec Railcar. (It's got the right face at least). I have been inspired to create a new sort Module/ layout/ photo plank of tramore station as it would've looked during the very last months of the Railcar years. Complete with a siding for the camping coaches. It's very small but I like that to be honest, nice to have a comparatively small amount of jobs to complete so they get done properly. This is going to be a more realistic representation of the line than the station in the foreground. (Tramore high level if you will!) This kit-built coach acquired from the East Lancashire railway years ago will have to be repainted into the blood & custard-esqe colour scheme. All this has to be done ideally before the Dunshaughlin harvest festival at the end of September so that I can have a train run between both stations but at least before the Mrsi exhibition in October. As always any tips or suggestions are welcome. Better be sooner than a month before I do more!

Unintentionally watched it about 4 times before I realised it was a loop! Looks and sounds wonderful though!
