Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) I came across this forum on my local area. I always knew Newry/Warrenpoint had a great railway history but its so strange looking at the photos on this forum how much the area has changed. There are still little bits of the railway left in Newry if you know what to look for. Some great pictures on this site enjoy. BTW if anyone has any more info on railways past in the Newry area please let me know. http://www.oldwarrenpointforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3929 http://www.oldwarrenpointforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=842 http://www.oldwarrenpointforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=748 Edited September 6, 2012 by Anthony
Eiretrains Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Thanks for those excellent links, the photos are good quality, must have been shot on kodachrome film. Colourpoint's The Warrenpoint Branch by Des Fitzgerald (ISBN 1898392145) has a lot of similar colour photos taken in the 1960s, and includes track diagrams and early history of the line. Unfortunately it's no longer in print but you can still occasional pick it up from book stalls at the shows or online book sellers such as ABE books.
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 Thanks for that Eiretrains I will keep an eye out for that book
