Very impressive, GL! I love the sense of space, the very neat trackwork and of course the fabulous liveries!
Coming from a man of your modelling talents I'm humbled, I have to agree with you about the liveries Patrick, they are top quality.

Recalls to mind a story from my long-ago youth; I was in Kildare cabin with my dad talking to the signalman, who he knew. A train went speeding through without stopping. All the carriages were green, bar the very last one which was onbiously only newly repainted in black'n'tan (all were Bredins and laminates of varying types).
Senior says to the signalman, whose name i forget, "Oh! Is that the new livery!!" as the whole thing sped through.
"Yeah", say signalman, in deadpan voice. "ye'd think we'd seen the last'o'the black'n'tans by this stage...."
Seems like only yesterday, but it has to have been summer 1962, given which relative we were visiting on the day.
The earlier Murphy 141 rolls into Dugort Harbour one afternoon in 1964.
Great story and great picture Jonathan

Isn't the imagination a wonderful tool, I'm here sat in the van having my late lunch watching the great video and transported back to that era, thanks Patrick

Not as eventful as you lads but one time in the last century I was doing some fascia and soffit on a new house belonging to my boss at the time, the scaffolding was already in place from the blocklayers and plasterers but my boss had been moving boards to suit us, I was on the top level casually walking the line with a length of fascia and suddenly dropped through the scaffold! The boss had put a plank that was too short and barely sitting on the scaffold and I almost did severe damage to myself only for the boss was actually underneath me at the time and broke my fall with his hard hat , I was sore but alive, he was in pain

Cold air balloons would be the safest method, if only they would fly.
When I had a proper job, we used sulphur hexafluoride gas, both as an insulator and as a blast to control and extinguish arcs as a circuit breaker opened.
It is a truly weird substance, chemically inert (before it's had a good bit of arcing to degenerate it), but extremely dense, about six times that of air. A balloon filled with it was a strange thing, it would just fall straight down and stay there, not even bouncing. There are a few videos of demonstrations on You Tube, where a tinfoil boat is floated on a fish tank filled with SF6, appearing to just float on nothing. Being chemically inert did mean that you never knew it was there, although it would affect your voice, in a reverse way to the often seen 'helium effect' - but this had its hazards, as it was quite possible to drown in it, without any sensation of drowning, as your lungs barely noticed the physical difference from air. This made entering vessels that had been filled with it a practice that required your full attention, even if they had been pumped out. My practice was to drop a vacuum cleaner pipe in to the bottom and run it for half an hour.
Fascinating science!

Any that you mentioned would suit me, it is a Murphy Models coach.

So these have been stolen from the batch of 141/181 locos in China prior to dispatch to Ireland, or are fake/duplicate models made by someone with access to the molds/facilities?
Either way it's still theft

On the subject of Murphys Models I was speaking with Paddy this afternoon
He is very upset with some of his models that are appearing on eBay etc and
coming from China
These locos are stolen property!
He has been in touch with the authorities there and they are commencing an investigation
If anyone is found to have bought one of these stolen items it is his intention to have them
prosecuted for handling stolen property
Caveat Emptor, (pass Latin 1972 St Declans CBS Cabra!)I bet he's upset, I hope it doesn't damage his association with his Chinese manufacturer!

Here is one to kick off the discussion;-
Taken from Mr CJ Freezer's 'Track Plans' Plan No. 1 for a small bedroom!
I have elongated it to suit your dimensions and ignored your lobby, I reckon railway layout space is more important than a lobby.
This plan allows for a train to run on a loop, which runs under the station, so then one can play end to end between the fiddle yard, the goods, the engine shed, and the station at the same time. The trains would have to reverse into the station and would be short!
Eoin
Interesting, however the lobby can't be ignored, living in this country means you can't always open the door to the weather, I like the options for running though.
Thanks Eoin

Got some more slabbing done this evening, time to pick some brains of the more learned here now , below is the outline of the floor area and I want to plan the baseboards, my goal is to have one or more short little shunting or straight line layouts, so should I have individual boards or one long one just divided,or a wrap around or something else?
