I just got a VAT invoice from DPD this morning requesting payment before they'll release my wagons (on which I've already paid VAT). Someone has screwed up.

Has anyone else got a request to pay VAT from DPD for their Bullied orders ?

Why indeed….. well the other job.. GAA is getting in the way. So after Carlow having a win over Meath today, I’m posting a small update. Bagenalstown (Muine Bheag) extension is off the blocks (well some of the buildings anyway. Station house is close to completion, just waiting on the glazier to come around and also to do a bit of paint touch ups that I have now noticed after putting the camera on them. Signal box, engine shed and opposite platform shelter also coming along. 2 week break in the National Hurling League, might get some more done

Playing around with a desktop laser to cut the ornamentation for Bagenalstown Station balcony. First attempt at a bus kit. Self made decals so they're not perfect......now to get out some workers to straighten that lamp post

Having dropped into the Wexford train show and seen a few Bedford SS "Bus Scoile" on display only to be disappointed to learn that they're impossible to source, I set to making one from scratch. First prototype attached. Modelled from diagrams I found in a New Irish Lines volume. Main body laser cut from laser ply on Beamo desktop laser with rough sanding of a balsa piece to form the roof. Not as good as the models on display in Wexford but it's a start and can hide between the ditches on some part of the Borris layout when complete.

@jhb171achill some good knowledge there - thank you. A repaint is on the cards along with a repaint of the brake van which driver forgot to attach and had to return to Borris for after @WRENNEIRE called the Gardai on him. As if things weren't bad enough, work on Bagenalstown (Muine Bheag) Station house has come to a standstill after labourers downed tools - something to do about material cost inflation and a fixed contract price. Borris Station building made from card with Das clay applied and a roller to imprint the stone pattern (have posted a photo of the roller on the previous page). Beet is also made from small pieces of Das clay formed into shape. I made a latex mould from a pile of the pieces, fitted to wagon size and then was able to replicate a good few times from resin quickly. Hand painted after to give variety of colour.

Just to give a bit of context, I'm using old photographs of Borris Station and Viaduct to help plan and design. A Class arrivals should fit in nicely.

Below are 2 of the tools used that I 3d printed , one is the roller for the stonework imprint and the other small box I used to extrude small hexagonal chimney stacks for the station. I pushed clay into the box and stacks formed through the hexagonal opening in the bottom

Thanks Galteemore, base structure for buildings was from foam board with openings cut out. I 3d printed a small roller with a stone pattern on it and rolled this across thin strips of Daz clay to replicate the stone work. Strips were then glued on to foam board with PVA. Ledges were formed from small pieces of clay also. When dry, a wash was applied with dry brushing later to give a varied stone colouring. Slates were made from overlapped cut card painted slate with lighter dry brushing for weathered effect

Today, the 15th of August, would have been the traditional fair day in Borris, Co. Carlow which would have seen the now closed Borris Railway station hosting trains of passengers and cattle coming to the fair. The impressive 16 arch Borris viaduct has recently been officially reopened as a walkway. Yesterday I finally installed a photo backdrop of Mount Leinster onto my layout so although still a work in progress I think it's a good day to show a few photos of my layout. It incorporates Borris Station and the viaduct. Bagenalstown Station will be added at a later stage. First layout so go easy as I'm learning as I go.

Howya Ed, Just seeing your posts for the first time....Might see you for a pint now that Sheas has opened back up. More Covid related modelling going on here in Borris in the shadow of the Viaduct....... Eileen Lawlor would have been proud.
