A change in plan , Due to the space Available , i will go with 7 X 2 Module, in the Hope that more space will become available at a later stage
Thanks to Everyone who Helped me so far , i have managed to come to Grips with ANYRAIL.
I Came up with a design that works for me , and having had most of the track parts available , i am Happy to say. Trains are now up and running .
Attached is the plan
A Big thank you to all that helped
Looks like a great plan! Loads of operational fun there! Only thing I might say is accessing the timber siding might be a faff, especially if you're looking to run around an outbound load. Assuming you're going to have the IRM Flats carrying the timber. I could be wrong there mind you if the straight between the two points can hold two flats!
That's only minor though, main thing is, you're happy and it looks great!

I’m following this with interest!
Will we see an 800 class in GNR blue, or a De Dietrich set in CBSCR olive green?
A Lough Swilly 4.8.0 in Donegal red? (Airfixfan, what ye think?)
Lined CIE green on NCC Jeeps?
NIR Red Bull livery on Cork 26’s or Drogheda 29s? CIE Black’n’tan on an NIR “wokfru” 4K set?
The sky’s the limit….
A Class 66 in Black'n'tan?
An A class in An Garda livery? (A la class 37 in police livery)
A 22000 in Arrow livery?
This will be interesting to watch

Is it safe to say Bangor was a bust for a IRM steam announcement? Or are they holding out for a Sunday surprise?

Don't be so rigid bodied, no need to put a filler cap on the puns just yet.
That was a greasy one, sorry. Also woefully Esso-teric.
This isn't fair, you're much better at puns than me, I'm starting to feel a bit Bulleid. I'm only gonna be a Shell of my former self after this

Don't start with these pun based shenanigans again!
Just say Tanks and move along

Amazing! I've just finished up plans for a fuel area for my layout yesterday evening. Great stuff lads!
On a side note, is there only going to be one pack of running numbers? Thought you might do the usual 2-3 packs of different liveries (Wallet might not complain though)

I'd take three or 4 broken wheel

With the poor weather about, figured it was worth finishing up on my bridge build,
Wanted it to represent an older branchline bridge with a more modern girder bridge to allow for the mainline constructed after the original branch. I don't think it turned out too badly consider I'm relatively new to scratch building. Painting up next and I'll wait till its in position to add the road surface so there's no visible gaps in the scenery

Preordered a set of 4, should look the bee knees alongside Mk2s, Cravens, 4 wheelers and generic irish-ified coaches in a mixed rake behind an A class!
Well done lads!

Took a notion and decided to start scenic work on one corner, I'm happy with the trackwork, fully tested with Steam, Diesel, DMUs, Coaching stock, and twin axle and Bogie freight, all running smoothly.
Trying to construct it to look like the branch line was there originally and the main lines were added after, with an older stone style bridge transitioning into a more modern plate girder style bridge and a cutting to allow the two main lines to pass through.
Raised section was built from offcuts from my first layout attempt and packed with insulation foam, followed by expanding foam and cut down to suit.
Bridge is a hodgepodge of wooden offcuts, clad in foam board and plasticard, waiting for Slaters embossed plasicard to make it look more bridge-ey. I'll have to get more embossed plasicard and foam board to create the cutting walls before using Sculptamold to build up/fill areas before plaster being applied to lock it all in.
Thanks all!

It seems to me that it should be fairly easy to have convincing sound effects, both inside and outside the vehicle.
Almost like DCC sound is, but with a bit more 'scale and depth'.
I'm gonna make my car sound like a TIE fighter then!

Counter to all these points as a self proclaimed boy racer,
No smoke, no poke!
But counter again to myself who has spent the last while selling EVs, they are slowly winning me over as a daily car amd are indeed the way of the future, however, I would miss the drum and noise of a Straightpiped ICE every now and again, and the roar of F1 and Rallying

Could it possibly be a return that got mixed in with the stock? I agree with Murph, it looks very faded and washed out

Managed to grab 210, 203 and a cement bubbles pack. Nice one lads! And fair play to you for not inflating the prices!

Have a look at Railtech transfers. I've used them in the past and found them very good

Finally have a more complete idea of how the station area will look with one or two minor revisions, allowing for plenty of passenger operations.
Moving ahead to designing the goods area, as can be seen in the back left of the photo, without trying to cram too much trackwork in and allow for infrastructure and roadways so the station and goods area doesnt feel like its isolated and on its own. With that in mind, I may remove platform 4, and use that line as a holding line/runaround and compress the goods yard lead closer towards the current trackwork
I'm considering going down the route of the DCC concepts Lenz black shuttle module to operate from the planned branch line station to platform 3/4 (currently where the green coaches/goods wagons are)
Hopefully I can get onto Baseboard 4 soon, which will be a small viaduct scene over a river (similar to Navans viaduct), which will hopefully give the needed elevation for some scenic variety

Keep it up Dane, you'll soon need more wagons!
I have to say I do feel very lucky!
Not to worry Leslie, as soon as I finish (and start) the 10 or 12 Provincial wagons I have in the queue, I'll be back for more!

Progress is slow on the main layout, a minor amount of tracklaying done, awaiting an insulated partition wall, sockets wired and so on, so all stock has been moved back into boxes for protection until thats done, along with the purchase of a efficient space heater with antifrost setting to protect the locomotives

Kilfree Junction
in Irish Model Layouts
Posted
Hi Gabhal! The whole process of watching the shed has been brilliant! Can't wait to see how the layout progresses! But as a quick aside, the layout looks maybe a bit limited by the headshunt lengths and overall dimensions for operations, have you considered an "inspired by" rather than a "Based on" layout?
Just my €0.02, I looked at your plans and done a quick sketch to aid operations (in my unlearned and green opinion). But wither way I can't wait to see how this all progresses! And by all means ignore this if you want as accurate to real life as you can get, happy modelling!
