Not sure whether the IRM lads will release their O Gauge 071 or their N Gauge 071 first, but whichever it is shall be spectacular, no doubt!

In either scale, I'd happily settle for a rake of Mk3's and no EGV!

Are IRM going to be going into N gauge!? 😁

I wonder is there any ENTHUSIAST alive now who travelled on any of the lines closed in the 1930s, like Achill, Clifden or Muskerry?

A tiny handful of "ordinary" people, but I dunno about enthusiasts.........

Did you manage to get on any of the Donegal line? The girlfriend is from that neck of the woods and you see the odd remnant of a railway line, which I'd say would have been beautiful.

Probably cheaper to buy the Spoils :)

I completely forgot that was an option. 🤦‍♂️

3D prints are really good  - put IRM loads on top and the high fidelity IRMs are your mptys! - simples..    What would be good is a limited number of the IRM bogies in twin packs. ....

Yeah I was lucky enough to pick up 2 packs of kegs and 3 packs of 20fts when they went on sale. If you have painted some of the 3d prints could you recommend what colour looks well on them. It looks like a brownish red colour? Revell satin brown is the closest I can see in paint from online pictures.

Looks like a relatively easy respray of Bachmann Rail Track 38-210. No masking needed, one single colour, just a lot of small transfers to be carefully placed. Personally I've not interest in anything yellow, nor PW stuff, so never aspired to respray any rail track stock. I remember seeing a twin pack of Irish rail ones for sale a few years ago for €70 and my jaw nearly dropped thinking no way I'd ever pay €35 each for a wagon especially one that didn't transport either passengers or goods. If one was into yellow PW stuff that sounds like a good deal now compared to buying and respraying RailTrack but its an easy single colour respray.

SSM do the transfers (see below)

    Also regularly on eBay

    Noel,

You are a legend! I think I'll have a go at respraying! Is there any way to get know what shade of yellow would be similar or just trial and error?

They are Autoballasters, one of the hardest Irish RTR wagons to get, even sourcing  the UK equivelant wagon to repaint is tough

Ah I see. Sure maybe there will be another a run if there is demand!

Literally perfection. You've perfectly captured the area and the craftsmanship of the buildings/scenery is mind blowing.

What is the name of the yellow Iarnrod Eireann wagons in the background that look like they haul ore and where do I get them?

Fleebay tip, make only one bid at the max you are prepared to pay but bid only 10-15 seconds before bidding closes. Ideally last 5 seconds if you can type fast enough. That's when most auctions are won. You don't want to leave enough time for last minute red mist when somebody manually outbids you. But make sure you are already logged in otherwise your bid might not make it before bidding ends. Check sellers 'feedback rating' is 100%, and read description and view photos thoroughly before bidding. Also watch out for expensive postage especially to Ireland. Some UK sellers grossly over charge for postage to Ireland (ie some think anywhere off the island of GB is the third world, foreign and across distant oceans where people don't speak proper :) ). High postage to Ireland can sometimes be offset by using addressPal €3.75 on top of internal UK postage costs, and you can collect from your local post office.

    Good luck.

That's actually deadly, completely forgot about address pal! I will do!

  8. Ah its a beautiful coach, I haven't built up enough bits to do a kit bash, and don't have an air brush for painting so probably not the best to do a DIY job. I'll probably just order one of the RTR silverfoxes. That is a beautiful coach though! Really nice down to the small details!

  9. Ah thanks for the replies Noel and Jhb. I'll check out silverfox models for one. The top one there looks like the one I'll be after. Love the vents/chimneys on top of it. I've learned so much already! Can't wait until the loco arrives!

  10. Thanks for the picture Rob, I was thinking something entirely different.  I'll have to keep an eye out for one. I have the craven with the orange bar above the windows. Would there have been a specific one in that livery or would this have been one they used for all of the craven versions?

  11. Thanks for the reply Jhb. I take it BR is a breaking coach? Do they look like regular coaches or are they the small coaches that have a little cabin/shed and a roof over it? Sorry if it's a silly question.

I'll look at a few of the 42ft flat wagons maybe pick up a few of the Guiness wagons when they come out!

  12. Hi guys,

Hoping you all could help me out. In the lockdown I found an old Hornby set in the attic which has ignited an interest in model railways. I'm starting to look at building an Irish railway. I managed to get a Craven Coach from Spain and got a Craven Snack Car from Mark's Models. I'll be looking to add another craven or two if they pop up online.

Just a quick question, I'm planning on getting a class 71 to pull my 2 craven coaches. (And other Irish stock as it's added) I'm looking at the class 71 in the attached picture. Would it have been a loco that pulled craven coaches?

    Thanks in advance!

    Mick
