Kirley Junction layout refurbishment continues. This phase includes ground coverage, adding/replacing bushes and trees. If you had seen my previous posts would would have seen the number of new trees I made but they all disappeared, I would have needed 3 times as many to complete all the areas I wanted.
Only noticing the guttering on the front of the Station has come loose, yet another job to be added to the list.
[note to Glenderg -use stronger glue please]

I have been using Dropbox to load pictures onto this Site but today I can't get the 'Copy Public Link' to work. Unable to find an answer in their Help pages, any Computer boffins out there with an answer?

A sad sight indeed but I suppose it's better than the results of a cutters torch which was the end for the majority of the rest.

Thanks John for the recommendation on Tamiya AS12 for the silver livery.

This is not a workshop thread, it's a fantastic tutorial on how things are done. Thanks for the tip on the pencil line stopping the flow of solder.
-
Ballasted the track and did some ground cover.
Started placing the Telegraph Poles, hope I have got the spacing between them right.
Adding more trees is next on the list.

Hi fellow modeller's a new club has been formed in the North West. Foyle & District Model Railway Society . TDR
Good luck Raymond on the FDMRS, hope to hear all about it next week when I visit.

Just picking up on your post now John. Delighted to see you finish them and showing how they should be done. Without your enthusiasm, knowledge and hard work I doubt if these brilliant coaches would have ever seen the light of day by anyone else. Thank you again for making these kits available.

Upgrading Kirley Junction continues. I've added a siding leading to the old engine shed.
I'm going to try a Seep point motor for the first time.

Jayzus, Modern containers are a new direction for you, Kieran and looking very well too!
The pocket wagons first appeared Kevin in 2013, see entry #309. It seems a long time ago now.

Some Container action on Kirley Junction.

Seafoam with foliage added.
There is over 40 'trees' plus bushes from the one box.
-
Do you plan to add foliage to the seafoam? I've a box I keep meaning to get started on, it's great looking stuff!
Yes Stephen, adding foliage is next on the list. I've posted a link on an easy way to do it in the post above, It's a few hours work that will make a fantastic to any layout.

The trees look good as they are.
Where do you get them?
Telegraph poles look great but get in your way when trying to do anything near the track.
I got that box from International Models but they seem to have disappeared from the Web which is a pity as they did great backdrops. If you Google Seafoam you will get plenty of options and I came across this video which may be of use.
I'm aware of the danger of the poles and accept I will 'loose' some of them as I have done with trees in the past.

A job well worth the effort.

At last I've started to finish off the layout starting with weathering the track. My two bottles of sleeper grime ran out very quickly with still lots to do so that ended the spraying until more supplies arrive. The previous pictures shows some parts of the track that has been sprayed.
More trees for Kirley Junction.
All from a box of Seafoam.
Still to have the foliage added.
Telegraph Poles are also required, using Ratio & Dapol kits.
Painting the insulator pots required magnifiers and a lot of patience.
The Freight Yard has always been full of Containers and Wagons.

I cleared it in preparation for spraying the track and found the empty space reminded me of what has happening to Freight Yards over the Country, see what you think.
Perhaps less is more?

Great footage but the detail you hope to see is not there compared to today's digital reproduction. A sign of the time but we are lucky to have at least this.

Arrow Railcar stops at Clonmel Station.
Time to start preparing for the beet season....back in the day.

Class 70 No.74 and Class 80 No.81 pass each other.
Really miss some variation on NIR tracks today.

But, I think it says something pretty disappointing when this thread has arrived amongst the Belmond fervour, and only a few respond.
This should be inspiration to any modeller on this forum.
Agreed but maybe you are assuming there are a lot of actual modellers on this Forum.
