Very impressive work. Have you ever thought about making conversion parts for a BSK / BCK generator steam van?

These are from the recent batch of Mk2D coaches, purchased from IRM but they have never been opened. The three models are: MM5601A - EGV in Galway Livery MM5209A - Coach in Galway Livery MM5232A - Coach in Galway Livery €150 for all three, prefer to sell the three together. Collection in Galway or can post.

Thanks for that info. I will get a set of the magnifying glasses and try them. There is good illumination from LED ring light I have but probably worth getting additional illumination.

Purchasing from Railtec Transfers - are they subject to VAT?
kevin_gal replied to kevin_gal's topic in Irish Models
Specsavers are probably no worse than some of the charlatans posing as opticians that I have visited. Hopefully the guy I am going to next Saturday will get me sorted. -
Just wondering what people are using to provide a clear view of their work area? I have a ring light with a magnified lens at the desk but it's awkward to have to look through so was wondering if there are any better solutions?

Got them today, yes they look excellent quality and no customs issues. However, with my eyesight the way it is at the moment I was struggling to see some of them clearly under my magnified ring lamp. Applying them may be challenge for me, hope my opticians appt next Saturday will get things sorted -

That's good news. Paying VAT plus the An Post handling of charge on some transfers that cost less than a tenner is a bit hard to take. -

OK, thanks Phil. Will probably be attached to my order also then. -

Thanks Noel, Those photos are very useful, to be able to see where the tabs are located. -
How are Murphy Models Craven Coach Windows held in place?

Thanks Eoin, I accidently dropped one of my coaches today. It was in the box and hit the floor face down. When I was examining the coach I noted the glazing wasn't bonded in place and was wondering if it has loosened or maybe was clipped into place and was always like that. -

Are the windows part of a clear section that is attached inside the body frame or are they supposed to be bonded to the inside of the body frame? Has anyone ever dismantled a Craven coach? -
Thanks Robert, I contacted Silver Fox about buying a GSV but they never responded so I have bought a Bachmann mk1 BSK on ebay with the view to modify sides and build additional items. I have gathered some exterior photos online but can't find any interior shots. Without detailed photos there will be some guesswork on dimensions but hopefully I can put some reasonable drawings together for the modifications. I will check out Railtec and SSM for the transfers.

I am planning to build a GSV based on the ex BR MK1 BSK coach and am having difficulty in finding decent side profile photos. Does anyone know if such pictures exist or if there are any drawings available? Is 3185 accessible to take photos? I understand it belongs to the RPSI but their website states it is at Inchicore.

I think you mean sensible rather than stingy

Box lids probably put on wrong boxes by accident so worth getting clear pics of carriages to check numbers before buying( I should take my own advice...). Cost of some Cravens carriages on ebay are eye watering.

I purchased Murphy Models Cravens coach MM1504 on ebay.co.uk and received it today to find a 1533 coach in a MM1504 box. It's re-packaged ready to return to the seller tomorrow. If anyone looking at buying a MM1504 coach just beware in case this comes up for sale again. Picture in ad was not clear enough to see the number on the side of the carriage, this is picture I took.

Yes, I think I should be patient and wait for the Murphy Models set. I have a Murphy Models 121 locomotive here, number 124, so looking to get a suitable coach set for it.

Thanks for the link. I did some searching on the web and didn't see that.

What would be the best starting point for creating a model of the mk3 DVT 6105? Are there any BR units that could be modded easily? I believe 6105 is stored at Moyasta so I was thinking of maybe taking a trip down and get detailed photos. Although I wonder what state it is currently in... Studio Scale Models have a Mk3 DVT windows kit, is this intended to be used on a standard mk3 coach? http://www.studio-scale-models.com/img/K52.jpg

I purchased the following two sets of Tara Mines ore wagons from Marks Models recently but am changing my project plans so am looking to sell: IRM1030-BX-F (31002, 31008) IRM1030-BX-G (31005, 31010) These are new, and were just taken out of their boxes for inspection. I would be looking for €65 each plus P&P. Thanks.
