Hi Folks,
I got another little bit done on the layout recently. Although shortened up etc Platform 5 is starting to take shape. Next part I will do is the Link Building to connect Platforms 6/7 with Platform 5/4/3/2/1. The plan then is to detail the platforms under the trainshed roof & add the concourse.

Thanks for the kind words folks.
Just to try answer a couple of queries from your comments:
1)Regarding the signalling I think I will simply scratchbuild dummy modern signals. At a later stage I may try to replace these with working colour lights.
2)All of the DMUs are converted British Stock:
The IE Class 29000 is a UK 350 EMU.
The IE Class 2800 is a heavily modified UK 150.
The IE 22000 ICR is a modified UK 168.
The IE 2700 is a modified UK 158.
3)The Locos are all Shapeways items which just need to be finished & a suitable donor chassis found. With the 121s & 141s I used a lifelike SW9 chassis which was short enough.
I hope to get some more work done over the weekend & will hopefully post an update early next week.

Pure Class Noel!
With the Dart Trains now becoming available I have a funny feeling in the new year there may be an electrification project on the cards

Hi All,
I've been working on a couple of projects over the past while that have kept me away from my N gauge model of Connolly although I hope to get some serious work done on this over Christmas.
Here is the first project which is a static 1:100 scale model of a Citadis Alstom 401 type tram. It was built as a retirement present for my department manager who is also a gentleman. For his privacy I have blocked his name from the nameplate although anyone who knows Transdev/Luas will know who he is. Have a look at the pics they may be of interest.

That whole scenario with the failed loco is pure class Noel:) Keep these updates coming

Brilliant work George, looking forward to the next installment already

Thanks for the kind words lads. I will be posting plenty of pictures in the coming days/weeks so you will be able to see the layout develop.
@JHB171achill The Locomotives are all shapeways 3d prints. The 2700 DMU is a modified Farish class 158, the 2800 DMU is a heavily modified Farish class 158, my 22000 ICR is again a heavily modified Farish product this time being a class 168. All transfers were supplied by Des from Studio scale models.
Below is a closer image of 2 locomotives standing in the loop line area of the layout(apologies for the poor quality of the image)

Its been a while since I last posted on the site & the last time I did I was planning a model of Colbert Station Limerick. After careful consideration & much head scratching I decided to go with a model of Connolly instead.
The deciding factors for me were:
1)The ability to run through trains.
2)The variety of stock that ran/runs into Connolly Station.
I have had to scale the model back a fair bit due to space constraints but the overall look of the model should still be fine once fully completed. The model measures 6 ft x 3 ft & is built on an Argos wallpaper pasting table which folds meaning the model can be easily transported to exhibitions.
The model now has all woodwork, track-work, electrics done & I will be starting the buildings this week.I will post the up to more photos soon & hope to post regular updates as the model evolves.

Lovely job on the 29000 Noel, a super conversion and quickly out of the workshop too! I plan to pick up an n gauge 350 in Wexford & give it a go! The push pull looks at home at the junction too, we'll worth waiting for. Keep the updates coming

Well done getting on the video Deutschbahn.
I actually think the livery wall look nice when the remaining colours are added to the logos & finishing touches/trims etc are applied. Look forward the next video:tumbsup:

A lovely 70's scene there Noel, you don't hang about Keep the pics coming:-bd

I'm not the biggest fan of this logo either however I recall feeling exactly the same when the IE plug/socket logo replaced the IR point logo back in 1994.
For now I will wait & see if grow to like it!
Anyone got any photographs of it on IE rolling stock yet?

Some nice wiring there Kirley. Well done keep the updates coming.

Thanks for the warm welcome lads. I have attached the track layout which is simplified & modified however still resembles Limerick & could be used for freight if required:D. The buildings will of course resemble the real think although I will be shortening the platforms slightly due to space constraints. The Roxborough road bridge will act as the scenic barrier between the viewing area & fiddle yard. I will post up plenty of updates as the layout progresses over the next few weeks. There is also a couple of pictures of Carlow & Wellingtonbheag below if anyone is interested.

Hi All,
I am an N Gauge Modeller have been a fan of this site for some time. I have built a couple of layouts that some modellers may know from exhibitions, namely Carlow Station & Wellingtonbheag both of course which are modelled in N gauge.
I look into Irish Railway Modeller almost daily to see the everybody's updates & views on topics. I must say there are some fantastic projects being undertaken by individuals & it is great to see so much interest in Irish Model Railways now that the real railway scene is so predictable. I find that this site is a fantastic resource to new modellers & experienced ones to share/exchange experiences & I must commend everybody involved for that.
My next project will be based on Limerick Colbert Station which will be my first attempt at a terminal station. There will be a small bit of modellers licence employed (but not too much!) I plan to base the model on current day operations however not a huge amount has changed there so with a change of rolling stock it could very easily resemble the 80's or 90's. I will post regular updates/photos as the project progresses & look forward to any feedback.

I used a class 350 EMU for my N gauge 29000 which was a reasonably simple project.
The Cabs & roofs need to be modified but the unit is 4 cars & has doors/windows in similar locations to the real 29000.
