Also this system can operate on a DCC layout without modifying the layout. So you don't have to convert all your stock straight away. I'd like to see the size and price of the non sound unit come down but the system has huge potential and has clearly been well thought out.

Hi Controller,
Have a look at the next page or two of this link.
http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/1651-eigyro-s-workbench/page5
This system is available from D&M Models as a kit for 20 euro per coach.
-It is pre-wired so no worries about frying anything!
-It has a flicker-free system to stop the lights flickering annoyingly(essential)
-Adjustable brightness control
-Power pickups specially designed for minimal friction
-Always on with no need for the totally unnecessary complication of decoders(can still be turned off by turning brightness to zero)

Looks good! Last days of service for the loco.
The only think I'd suggest is that the smoke box needs some rust to tie it in with the rest of the loco.

Looks very well! What combination of scenics did you use?

Very simple David, bleating on about defects with MM products on the forum hasnt had the desired effect - i.e an official response from Murphy Models. That's what people seem to want.
Too early to say I'm afraid. You may well find that all the 'bleating' will make MM put an extra procedure in place to ensure that the next model, if there is one, is totally up to par quality-wise.
I think we can forget about getting a public acknowledgement from MM. I doubt they'd be willing to do that as they'd be shooting themselves in the foot as regards shifting the remaining stock.
I'd like to add that I have actually purchased some ST mk2s and there is nothing on mine that would make them not fit for sale.

Well, it hasnt worked so far in this instance, has it?
And what you're saying is that it's best that Murphy Models reputation is damaged? Well that's going to help the Irish modelling community, isnt it?
Once again you miss my point. You want something done, go to the organ grinder, not sit down the road moaning about it like a broken record.
What does 'worked' mean? MM is not going to offer widespread discounts or recall vast amounts of models. We wont know if the public complaining has 'worked' until the next MM model which shows an improvement. Suggesting that Kevin contacting MM directly and privately will somehow magically resolve the issue is totally ludicrous.
Also, it has already been stated in another thread that MM was aware of this forum and the opinions on the ST mk2s.

Check out the RPSI facebook page. They have photos of 461 inside the shed having been just moved in there recently.

Sent you an email there.

That's filth Dave! Black roofs came in in the early 2000s

The 1.5mm stuff that Glenderg suggests is certainly excellent stuff but there are plenty of buildings made of cereal box card that have stood the test of time. The Malahide/Drumin Jct layout(which I currently have) was built 48 years ago with buildings made of cornflake card. It spent a lot of it's life in a converted attic but, more importantly, it spent 15 years in a shed with vines growing on it and they're still fine!
It is worth noting however, that several layers of card were used for each wall to improve strength.

Nelson, I and I'm sure many others would consider you an expert and certainly one of the best modellers on here.
Noel,
I'd agree with Nelson's advice for the most part.
Halfords primer is excellent. I use the normal(metal) grey primer on plastic and find it easy to use. I'm sure the plastic primer is grand too.
I'd suggest spraying the model with a light coat of primer. If the lining and crest obviously show through then sand with very fine paper. There is minimal risk of removing detail with fine paper carefully used.
Repeat the priming and then apply your colour. No need to wait over night. A couple of hours will be fine.
Tip: If the paint doesn't smell anymore then it's as dry as it's gonna get!
Hope that helps!

There are already at least 2 manufacturers offering both of those wagons as kits and RTR.

Excellent work Nelson. Looking forward to seeing this one painted!

It's now 2 years since this was first launched. It would be nice to have some idea when the project will start, I can appreciate other projects such as the Freight lines overtook it but an update of progress every 3 months or so would I'm sure be appreciated to all who paid deposits.
Hi Kieran,
The project is still on hold to complete the backlog of orders that were placed before it. I'd love to plough on with the 461 project but I think you'd agree that it's only fair that I complete the orders for Enterprise sets and railcars that were placed before the 461 project was committed to. I am however nearing the end of this backlog. The time required in designing and producing hand built models is a very unpredictable so I'd ask for and appreciate your continued patience but rest assured that the project will be completed and to a high standard.

Hi Guys,
I have a few cement bubble casting 10 packs in stock ready for delivery before Christmas. They're designed to work with the Dapol C043 chassis and etchings from Studio Scale Models. Castings are ready to use straight from the box and should require minimal skill to produce a convincing model.
Price per 10 pack is 100euros and post charged at cost.
Please email me at dmmodelmakers@gmail.com to order!
Photos of finished models kindly supplied by Popeye.

Thanks for all your replies guys. Now sorted!

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a 141 or 181 class loco in Supertrain livery. Any running number is fine and preferably not weathered.
Thanks in advance!

I've changed my mind. I voted that I would not pay up front; now I say I would.
Don't worry, no need to pay a penny until it's designed.
-
That sounds worth waiting for. Do you know at this stage if you plan to use a centre drive chassis with AWD & AWP, double flywheel, etc?
We're nowhere near finalising such details yet I'm afraid. You'll have to wait and see

Will there still be a kit option for 461?
Yes, kit, assembled kit and RTR options.
Wagon Kits now available
