1. The company scrapping them are based in the north so it saves having to transport them on the back of a truck up the M1 like all the ones in Dundalk were.

Also Thomas doesn't have a licence to scarp down south. But what doesn't make sence to me is, why cut up in Belfast if Thomas is closer to ballymena? As ballymena has a PW yard which can hold the amount of mk3s coming as well as what is already there.

  2. Interesting to see which will replace the DD's when they are overhauled. It will bring a bit more variety to northern line come the summer anyway. 3000 class, more 29000 class, maybe even the odd ICR :)

I believe that during the DD overhaul, only one 22000 will be replacing the enterprise.

    It will work something a bit like this;

    Eg,

    9001 goes, 22001 comes

    9001 comes back, 9002 goes

    9002 comes back, 9003 goes

    9003 comes back, 9004 goes

9004 comes back, 22001 goes home.

It might not be in the that order nor It might not be 22001 but it will diffently work like this as both TNIR & IÉ officials have told me.

    Tony.

  3. Agreed the De Dietrichs are very uncomfortable in comparison

    The DD's will be getting a brand new 'level' to them when they get over-hauled this summer;

    Leaver seats

    New livery

New style to coaches and lots more.............

    Can't wait!

Info based on what ive been told by TNIR officials.

  4. Doubt Stobart's marketing team would decide to use 'Union Jack' colours here. I reckon they would go green, like the road fleet, which would also avoid clashing with Translink's blue liveries. If they also ditched that stupid '...the Engine' name thing, all the better.

    Ah, pipe dreams...

Stupid? Stupid? That is an Eddie stobart tradition there mate! I would gladly souptort the "stupid name thing" and I am a fan of stobart just to let you know! Every truck and car and van is named after a girl, and every loco after a boy! Boys some people need learn "if you can't accept it, leave it".

And tough luck too, as stobart rail has plans to come over to Ireland (btw the blue on stobart rail is darker)

Absolute Wonderfull! Would you do a N gauge class 170 in c4k livery?? (Once I buy it... :P) I'm still shocked that no one else has done it apart from you! You did sush a great job....

    Tony.

  6. Thanks for the warm welcome lads. I have attached the track layout which is simplified & modified however still resembles Limerick & could be used for freight if required:D. The buildings will of course resemble the real think although I will be shortening the platforms slightly due to space constraints. The Roxborough road bridge will act as the scenic barrier between the viewing area & fiddle yard. I will post up plenty of updates as the layout progresses over the next few weeks. There is also a couple of pictures of Carlow & Wellingtonbheag below if anyone is interested.

Hey hey! I saw this in Bangor today! One of my top favourites of what was there, keep up the good work!

    I would love this livery,

Stobart Rail, Ireland: 201 Class Diesel Locomotive (fiction)

If only stobart would hurry up and come......

    Tony.

  8. That steam crane was named "Dick's Rig" after my grandfather named Richard(Dick) Barrett, I also have a 30 minute video of him and some of his colleagues talking about the steam crane and showing how it worked.

Hi Eric, welcome to the forms! The steam crane named after your grandfather, does that happen to be the LMS NCC one at dcdr or the IÉ one?

    Tony

  9. Hi all,

The track plan I did was using Anyrail 5 free trail, I most try to scale it out like you all said.

And I just want to say thank you so much for the help that you given so there.

I most move some points, as like you all said, there a bi tight.

I just found out last night why I don't make many timetables (fictnal ones)

    image.jpg

If you look at the two TNIR services to Portadown, the second one leaves near enough 1/2 after the frist one, then it gets mixed up, oh well.

I also designed the control panel last night using MS Paint.

    image.jpg

    Tony

Ps, I will make changes to the track plan, and my Lima 201 enterprise will become stobart 201.

    Tony.

  10. That's a lovely bit of respraying / kitbashing by Driver301 and Tara Junction. Those British DMU's make a very passable 29000 it must be said, whether its N or OO gauge. Top stuff lads

Now for my two cents worth.... I really did like the Lime/navy/white Commuter livery. It was very distinctive and I don't mean that in a bad way. Even weathered up and unwashed (as they tend to be when in service) it still looked bright. The new Livery looks very dark, over time it'll look dowdy. Not good for enticing customers.

It is possible to change a livery without throwing the baby out with the bathwater! For example the change from 'Supertrain' to 'IE', The brighter orange and black/white lining freshened things up. No need for a complete re-paint.

But if indeed it is time for a new livery, at least make some effort. I mean it is quiet lame. Not to mention yet another livery that IE's fleet is running.... are we up to number 7, 8 liveries now???

There was some comment on UK liveries earlier... I actually like the 'Southern' one. Gives their stations and rolling stock a strong corporate identity. The 'First Capital' one is very Phone-shoppy alright... yuk! The 'wrap' looks quiet dated already.

A good livery and a strong brand is an important investment for any business operating a fleet of vehicles. If their design team would only google: Eddie Stobart Trucks, Union Pacific, Virgin Trains, Freightliner, Eurostar, TGV, SNCF French Railways etc... they might have got some inspiration on what a good livery looks like.

    OK Rant over....

    Tom.

I do agree with you Tom, it's just far too dark and boring, plain simple borning. It's good for us train spotters (I'm one!) because there are different liverys about, up here in the north, there are two (3 during autom!) which are redbull & enterprise, I'm already bored of TS because of this. I perved it when I was younger in early 2005 late 2004 when you had IÉ trains, green strip, redbull, fright and enterprise. It brought joy to us train spotters. Now everything is in the same colours. I always get the joy back when I go down south into Dublin, because there is the mix of all these different liverys.;) But thinking from a passenger view, it could (& will) get confusing, as too many liverys may cause passengers there are more than one company operating, where if you keep it to 3-4 liverys, train spotters still get the joy :) and passengers don't get confused, so in a way, I É have 3-4 too many liverys, up here in the north, we have 2-3 too little liverys. So enjoy it well it lasts.

  11. Hi all, this is the final track plan, and note that Holyfast D.M.U Depot will not have a shed, as if any maintenance is needed to one of the units, it will be taken up to meganthreu loco depot, weather it will be dragged or under its own power.

    I will only have 3 D.M.U's / Railcar's.

    They will be the following:

-class 166 painted into the new 29000 livery to represent the 29000

-class 170 painted into the c4k livery to represent the c4k

    -class 80 in redbull.

I will also have three loco hauled trains (passenger)

    - Enterprise DD (New 2014/2015 livery)

-TNIR DD (see link: Northern Ireland Railways: 'De Dietrich' Driving Van Trailer (fiction) )

-Tonys Transport Express (costume coaches with a costume D.V.T)

Does anyone think i should redo my lima class 201, No. 206 which i got on eBay for £30.00 into a stobart rail 201??

(See Link: Stobart Rail, Ireland: 201 Class Diesel Locomotive (fiction) )

Now, back to subject! Here's the final track plan....

  12. Hi all...

I've added the new station on the updated layout plan near Holyfast DMU depot and made the signs for it, hope you all like it.

    Tony

Ps, i may buy some more baseboards in a week or two,

  13. You can make a DVT using a Bachmann Virgin Voyager and Plasticard. A 201 kit from SSM helps to finish it off. This is one I did in 2010.

    EnterpriseTraintestrun004-1.jpg

Hi Kirley, the DD looks amazing! And thanks for the tip, you just saved me a lot of money.

I'll defiantly do it the Kirley way with a bit of a mix ( maybe voyager lights etc...)

    Once again, thanks.

    Tony.

  14. Hi Tony

Great to see you posting the development of your layout

Shapeways would be expensive, I'd go with the Kirley option. That voyager looks like it tried to get under a low bridge!

    murrayec

    Hi murrayec,

I'm just glad you and Kirley got me on time! I would of made a massive mistake by doing that. The voyager sure does look like it went under a low bridge for sure, maybe the one up near city hospital, Belfast? :P

And thanks for the great comment by away... (Sersiually, why can't other forms be like this??)

    Tony.

  15. Welcome Tony, Plan looks good. Those signs look great. Keep us posted and plenty of pics

Hi Dave, Thank you for the soport, and I'll sure will keep posting pics, you don't have to worry about that, once again, thanks.

Just to ask, if I where to make a DVT for the tonys transport train, would it be worth getting the 201 body shell off shape ways and cutting off the two cabs?

    Thanks,

    Tony
