  1. Hi all,

would anyone know the estimated timetable for the Emerald Explorer Railtour on Thursday 16th June next? A friend and I are hoping to photograph the train as it passes through the Bray and Wicklow Town areas. If anyone would have an approximate time it would be most appreciated.

    Thanks all,

    Tommy.

  2. Hi all,

down in Brittany for a few days break with the family, got into Quimper (Kemper), today to the local station. Very modern set up, I had been hoping for a few diesels but not a sign of one except TGVs and EMUs. Does anyone know if there are any rural lines around here which are diesel only!?

  3. Brilliant Dave - even I was still very young at that time and had not discovered the joys of the hobby - I didn't think there was such interest in the hobby at that time in Ireland - I first became aware of the 'Irish' model trains when I saw a lima 33 repaint with Mk IIs which a friend had received from Santa. My first Irish set was from jouef - remember them as being erratic runners - later on when I began to have pocket money I remember saving for lima; Cl 33, Warship and a Deltic "Meld". A shop in Wicklow town used to do a small run of Lima at end of 70s - early 80s.

    Great advert here.

  4. All are invited to see Ballybeg "in the flesh" at the St Joseph's Easter Show! I have remodelled it such that the backscenes will not hinder viewing. I will be showing late steam (1950s) and early diesels (1960s)on the Sunday then Black&Tan and Supertrain liveries on the Monday.

Also I will be showing my Llangollen in N gauge layout. Much more at the show (see http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/5326-St-Joseph-s-Hobby-and-Model-Show-Easter-2016?p=86794#post86794 )

I won't miss it this Easter. Well done Gerry it is totally realistic.

  5. €40 more expensive than recent retail prices

Was thinking the same myself - the Irish retailers are providing excellent value for money on these models. But you know the way the market works and someone out there may well be prepared to pay above the odds.

  6. Picked up a Push/Pull set for the 121 at the Bray show last Sunday, while it's far from perfect I'm happy with this representation of a train that used to be a regular visitor to the DSER on Sundays, back in the early 90s. Thanks to Gerry for the transfers.

  7. Had a go at the MIR kit - and practised my skills while making it. The painting and work isn't a patch on the neat work so often posted by members here, but it's progress at the basic level I operate at. I enjoyed the kit and I'm delighted with the representation of the 121 class until Mr. Murphy's models arrive. I need the IE stickers and loco numbers if anyone out there has a any as the ones in the set are breaking up. My next project now will be to source three BR MKIIIs and I'll have a go at a push pull set for the 121.

Thanks for having a look. Tommy
