Ok here goes. This is my first attempt at the world of model railways. The layout is called Mount Sallow and will be based on a 6x4 base and eventully lead out to the garden. It will be fully enclosed in a purpose built shed which is under construction. Im only new to this so its all by trial and error.
Above: The start of my layout. Sidings have to be completed. The track is temp thumtacked down.
Below: The layout will eventully lead out and run the whole lenght of the garden. A hole will be cut in the timber to let the railway enter the garden. The finished plan is to include a double track high speed line circling whole garden.
Rolling stock has been undecided yet, layout will enventully have a station, roads, houses and a bus garage.
I admit im no good at diy and building stuff but im willing to give it a go and learn by trial and error. The garden is currently getting decking hence everything scattered about.

Im sure someone here could make one of two of these look good on a layout. I am glad I save these before the old fotopic site went offline.

Anthony, RH98 was Ringsends 98fm bus .
-
Is it my eyes or has the 2 fell off the front number plate?
Two different buses. Up to six buses carried this advertisment.

Anthony as far as I know that 98fm RH was not an AOA. The ad was only on the offside and rear. The front and nearside of the bus still had the two tone Dubin Bus livery.

Its a single line with a siding however I might have enough spare track to run another loop around. I will use this layout as a starter and change various bits and pieces if I get it.

Trains, cars all included. Measures 8x6 foot. Does it look ok? I wont say how much I'm paying for it yet, however how much would you experts expect this to sell for?

BosKonay thanks for the links... some amazing layouts and trains there. One day..

Thanks for the replies everyone. Regarding space I can stretch to the size of the hornby trackmat for the time been. Ive decided to make my own layout with possibly 2 loops and a few sidings. Rolling stock will be mixed between old and new. My next train will be the intercity 125. Anyone around Dublin selling some track.. let me know! Bear in mind that this is all new to me so be prepared for a lot of questains over the next few weeks.

Got my first hornby set yesterday. (mainline steam)(Thanks Dave ) Would you recommend using the trackmat and buying trackpacks every week or making my own layout? If one was to set up a garden layout could this be done using a normal hornby set?

Have just been outbidded on that one.

Anthony, RH98 is 91D-1098. Last time I saw her was in open top format in Galway I think. Yes only offside and rear carried the advertisment. Front and nearside still had two tone green livery.
