  1. Hi all

I've printed the early steel sided cement wagon as in the picture. Again I've drawing them from pictures and videos to get as much detail as I can and that I can print and I'm pleased with the results. These wagons are designed to fit onto the Dapol prestwin chassis without any need for glue etc. I'm producing them and if your looking for some or any of the other 3D items I'm doing please Pm please. Enda

  2. Hi all .

I've recently started into 3d printing and have made a few small bits that were missing from my models ie...wipers/ horns and tail lights.  All of these parts were either unavailable to buy or hard to replace. The tail lamps and warning boards sit onto the lamp irons just like the real thing and can be moved from loco to loco or wagons that have lamp iron details.  I pushed myself and attempted to produce the double height beet wagon.  I designed it from pictures and videos and to fit onto the Dapol prestwin chassis without any need for glue etc...and had positive feedback that it looked passable with the modelers licence.

My idea is that, if you have a rake of prestwin chassis you can change the body's and keep your costs down. I am currently working on other projects that will suit the chassis so they are interchangeable.

I have attached some pictures of the stuff that I've made and the costs below. If you would like anything please pm me.

  3. Hi

I have started to use the Magnetic Dellner and find that they work great for me . As some of youmay know that my layout has inclines and was not great looking at trains bunch up and then take up the slack.  I first used them on my MK3 push pull that I recently finished and they worked once I got rid of the buffer lock.  I have fitted them to my pallet cement wagons witch are on a Daplo chassis. I've the IRM Fertiliser and some 42ft flats done but I had a little bit of modification to do to get rid of the buffer lock.  All said they have made a great improvement to the appearance and running trains on my layout. 20230806_090031.thumb.jpg.8006630a117b09308a46c100cb1768b2.jpg20230806_085937.thumb.jpg.603ad90faeb58d1232adc361752bfce1.jpg20230806_090020.thumb.jpg.6ba383a03d0af3cea197383014c2349d.jpgVideoCapture_20230713-222853.thumb.jpg.de0102cc9f101197b29997fff16392e8.jpg

  4. I would agree with Noel as I was the very same till I took the first step and never looked back.  YouTube was my go to for everything and just progressed from there.  I would encourage anyone to have a go on something small and inexpensive or old and you'll also get the rewards for achieving it yourself. Don't forget that it's a hobby and not a competition and it's what you get from it is what counts.

We are very happy to have Aidan's layout at the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre. Over the next couple of months I will be working on an extension to it to get it back up and running again.

Here is a video of it in an original Donegal Wagon. Thanks to Enda and Siobhan for getting it to us and to Aidan's wife Barbara.

    Hi all

Mark has started work on the layout  to get it up and running as a working model railway layout in the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre . He is doing videos as he is working on it and uploading them as he goes and explains how it's done etc

For more information please look him up on YouTube as he does some livestream and tutorials on model railways also.

We were so delighted that this layout got a good home and hopefully inspire people to get into the hobby.

Thanks Mark and all at the centre

    Enda

  6. Thanks Noel

As with my layout i have to run wheels with a decent flange so it was a no brainier to use IRMs wheel sets on the MIR Bogie cement wagons as i would have had to buy wheels anyway .

They are great and worked straight away and id highly recommend them if you have problems with derailing  etc

    Enda

I'd decided to bring along a 3D printed wagon that had a clip for a DJI Pocket camera to see whether I could play some fun and games with it on the late Monday afternoon... as you can see, fun and games were had!

Your video is great and it was great to meet you . Your own layout was stunning.

I had a most enjoyable afternoon at the show yesterday - congratulations to all at WMRC and all the tremendous exhibitors. I was in awe at the talent and creativity on display, learned so much from open, sharing and warm chats with Enda and Eamonn on "Past Avenue" and "Bushville" plus sage advice from Gerry Byrne on "Shunters Yard" and many more. So many layouts to admire - I particularly liked "Weston Interchange", "Rathmicheal", "European Tramway", "Old Farm", "Little Siddington" of course, and finally "Over the Hill".

    I just watched Nick's excellent video - I even spotted myself 🤭

It was great to meet you George and glad you enjoyed your day.

Unfortunately not. This weekend has been set aside for some work that needs doing in the house. I'll get to it eventually, I've heard nothing but good about it.

I understand that we must build up brownie points so we can buy more trains 🤪

Can't wait for the Wexford show - missed the last one because I sleep it in. Will have the alarm set this time - really looking forward to it.

Yes it's looking to be a great show and the location is great as there's loads of room for people to move around freely. Looking forward to meeting you 👍

A few of you may know that I was trying to find a new home for "Pettigo" as Aidan was concerned that his works would be binned. However, having had dealings with his wife, Barbara, I know that he needn't have worried!

A new home in a model railway cub came to naught - just before Christmas.

Barbara has just told me that it has been removed to Co Wexford by a friend of the family, who hopefully will cherish it!

    Happy Candlemass!

Oh -  and Happy Year of the Tiger.
