jhb171achill Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Folks, this thing is of necessity destined for one of the main auction houses, as it's a very unique price of railway history and in a league of its own. It is the solitary artefact of Dublin & Meath Railway origin I have ever seen. It dates from that company's inception in 1858. I know the other items I posted are all "pocket-money" level, but none the less interesting and often unique in their own right. But this is a genuine antique of a calibre rarely seen today. In common with the other stuff, I'm offering it to our own community for way less than general market value. In my experience of buying and selling railway antiques on behalf of RPSI and DCDR over the years, I would place its worth at €200 / €250 upwards. I'll take €175 for it. It works perfectly, as the image of its stamp attached will show. This is by far the most (financially) expensive item I will post here. Quote
