I'm doing exactly that now, and you're right, it's a NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!! Never realised how annoying it would be having to fit fishplates and cut the rails
That is a good point there. If you already have hornby track from a previous layout, then it can be used in fiddle yards or somewhere like that so it doesn't have to go to waste!
I remember someone saying they had photos of the enterprise set on the Lisburn-Antrim line and I found this pic of the enterprise set at Ballymena. Does anyone know why it was there?
I've only recently started modelling Irish railways. I was like you ex in collecting continental models but put a big emphasis on SNCF models as I started to develop a big interest in French railways. But you're right, with all the new releases, it's hard not to go back to Irish Modelling!
I think that peco streamline looks a lot more realistic, is a lot more versatile and though it takes a while to get used to, it's brilliant in the end. Hornby track is more simple, but looks very rigid...
They're the locos I grew up with! Well actually, 121s, 141s, 071s and 201s all used to pass quite frequently until the demise of Adelaide freight yard, but I always liked the 201s best
Never noticed this layout before! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/52276-belfast-great-victoria-street-station-and-adelaide-lookalike-tribute/page__st__25
Well, I was referring to the upper level one but both look great, and as Boskonay said the full length rakes look great and really add to the "big station" feel. By the way where do those two tracks that curve off to the right into the tunnel in that first shot go?
