Interesting- never knew or saw a 071 with an Ammonia set, ever.
-
In that livery, it would have hauled:
Passenger: Cravens / Mark 2 / Mark 3.
Freight: Tara Mines / Container Liners Flats / Sugar Beet / Fertilizer (?) / Cement / HOBS etc
Might be easier to say what they weren't hauling! (Ammonia Wagons!)

ICRs
in Irish Models
22 hours ago, jhb171achill said:Ach now....
My own distaste for all things "modduren" begins with 071s and Hunslet Enterprises. But each to their own; jhb171Senior would have looked blankly at a B101, B113, D class or Donegal Railcar and walked away..................they didn't breathe shteam!
There will come a day, I do tell ye, when the baby gricelings of the day, once they pass pension age (101, as it will then be, under FFG) look back in nostalgia, and pore over old pictures of the ICRs and CAFs and 201s that they remembered their dads taking them on the last run of, before the global warming an'all that stuff.
Senior also used to recall his time in Blackburn, Lancashire, as the Blackburn District PW Engineer, where he worked about 1939-44. The LMS men around him referred to the "Black 5's" as the "new engines", thus Senior saw them as such too....
It's all relative.
Having said all that, no, I've no interest in ICRs either, but they're better than a greenway......
Maybe l'm ahead of my time- l already love stuff like the 201's & the Mark III's

I never mind losing, or having faded letters or different shades on stock as @DiveController said, it's realistic!!

Hi
As a pretty anonymous building over by Platform 10, any clear photos of the Heuston Singal Equipment Room (SER)?
Am looking to model something like it if any suggestions, but it's difficult to get a decent photo of it especially from the track side.

This kinda looks like what l am looking for but if l could avoid the assembly at all possible with a RTR one, hence the appeal !!

Looking to gather together containers that were common in lreland around 2000 - 2010, couple of videos / photos from then show a lot of 'Norfolk Line' 40ft containers, but they seem hard to source- any suggestions where l might pick some up? (OO Gauge)

I'm still waiting in D8 after booking at Raheny last year . Jealous of ye that got them first but am sure they are near- will be worth the wait no doubt so no worries.

Just wondering what the best quality / most realistic Freight Containers (OO Gauge) 40ft or 20ft, that people think are out there?
Given the arrival of the 42ft Flats, if one wanted to vary the containers carried, what site is best?
Any views are welcome!

Thankfully mine arrived from them last week, it is excellent!

'Shorties' were the Mark 3's produced by Hornby for smaller layouts to fit more on.
They differed from the 'correct' real life version in that they were too short (obviously!) and the Standards had 7 windows instead of 8.
The doors are 'wrong' aswell but no model has the correct door config. for the lrish version.
Whatever suits though l guess!
