Whether it will come to pass or not is quite another thing, but the 2040 Freight Strategy refers to hybrid locos being sought to replace the 071s towards the end of the decade.
I'm calling it now, 5'3 gauge Vectrons...
Hope it will happen, would be delighted to see new loco's arrive

We Ok here’s a quick video, please excuse the crappy quality!
I haven’t had the chance to do any programming except for lowering the overall volume, which was deafening! A testament to excellent speaker set up in this model.
Here’s a YouTube link….
Superb Deltic and great sound, thanks for video, enjoy

Gave it a quick run-in when I got home from work, very impressive. Only got to play with it for an hour or so, damn attic is WAY too hot right now!
I’ll try and get a video up in the next day or too for anyone who’s interested.
Please do, superb loco, one of my first loco was a Lima Deltic

What originated in Thurles Bob? Fertiliser or briquettes?
Fertiliser trains were unloaded in Thurles goods yard

Possibly by penrose quay, or perhaps that was done in the north esk?
Probably Penrose Quay nearer to Gouldings site on centre park Road, North Esk more for containers although it did handle Guinness keg liners
16 hours ago, murphaph said:Can we try to summarise the origins of the loads and the loading points for the ferts:
-IFI Shelton Abbey, rail served
-Albatross New Ross, rail served
-Gouldings Askeaton?, loaded at Foynes?
-Gouldings Cork?, loaded??
-Bord na Mona, where? loaded where?
-Coal, short lived but prototypical so of interest for sure. From where?
Can someone fill in the blanks? What years were these flows in operation?
I always thought it was just IFI Shelton Abbey to the rest of the country but it seems these wagons did much more than that.
Thurles was another depot

So Gouldings in Cork was gone as an origin by my era (1995) then? I see Gouldings pallets in some of the pics above so they definitely continued to carry Gouldings branded fertiliser. Would this have come from Foynes then by the mid 90s?
Albert Quay was closed by then now part of the South City link Road, Goulding still in Cork, ferts traffic may have been loaded at Kent Station yard

Oh this is tempting....
What formations did these wagons run in? How many in a rake and did they run mixed with other stock?
Some were dedicated ferts only from Shelton Abbey plant, I have seen photos of ferts, kegs and bagged cement wagons probably returning empty

Excellent work the heavily used look, will look well in a siding or been hauled by an A class or 71
