Really like these Ballast wagons. They uncouple and couple really well using kadee as per IRMs recommendation to glue kadee's under the NEM pockets, or use the pockets in fixed rakes and just modify the end wagons as per Stephens original suggestion. These would not have been shunted or marshalled like other two axle stock, but the bubbles might have been marshalled into any type of formation with other wagons in the early days. Looking forward to weathering the rest of my Ballast wagons over the winter. Might even respray some of the loads to Gypsum colour for a bit of variety. These wagons were a game changer for the Irish modelling scene and a taste of all the goodies that were to come afterwards from this stable. Never have we had it so good. IRM seem to have helped grow the size of the Irish modelling market, so glad that folks who missed out on the first run will now be able to benefit from these exciting re-runs especially in CIE and IR liveries not to mention the Gypsom variants.
Thanks for that noel
Thanks noel great video

First in line of my weathering projects has been my 10 Tara mines wagons from Irish Model Railways which I've spent the last few days working on and I'm extremely happy with the results.
First layer of dry brushing.
Second layer.Airbrushing of the lid and along the upper portion of the wagon
Airbrushing of the lower portion of the wagons with frame dirt to finish it all off.
All that remains is to apply grease marks to the buffers and varnish.
Very happy with how they all turned out with a good varied look throughout the 10 wagons. Look forward to hearing your thoughts as always.
Brilliant job well done

No, I put the photo up to show you the sort of engine your grandfather was driving when he did 60mph in reverse - that is "tender first" - see my earlier post - such a speed was a rare exploit in steam days.
For a driver to die in service would be unusual and I would have thought it was reported in one of the railway journals of the day. I'm away from my IRRS Journals, but Irish Railfans News may have reported it - that's on line somewhere.
JHB has copies of Cuisle. Have a look Jon, please - 1965.
Leslie my dad Patrick joe Hogan passed away in 1968 after enterprise duty.

Lining proceeds, the loco body lining is coming to completion except that I am running out of decal lines, there is no decals for the valance curves and for the cab front at roof level! I have just enough lines to complete the tender which involves trimming boiler bands (which a few extra were on the sheet) of one of the yellow lines.
Valance lining with the bow pen- black line done.
Setting up a cab front line on clear decal paper- black line done.
Tender lining complete and getting ready to epoxy on the axle boxes, buffer shanks and vac pipe.
The inside of the frames were abraded with a fibre pen back to the metal for best glue fixing.
Tender chassis with breaks fitted.
The tender is now ready for a few coats of lacquer.
And these are the parts for coaling the tender- a folded styrene cover for the coal chute, a bit of MDF to fill the gap under the coal, and a card base for holding the coal, these will go in after lacquering.
Yellow lines going on the loco valance, I got this paint mix a bit light but was chuffed with the neat line so decided to leave it there and dull it down later.
After making an adjustment to the paint mix I did the yellow line for the cab front.
Eoin
Looks brilliant thanks

A modern image layout,11' 0" x 5' 0" based on a terminus upper level descending to a continuous loop lower level. Fully signalled, electric points, and landscaped!! Dave Linfield built the baseboards, track and wiring. Ritchie Matthews and myself completed all the landscaping over a 2 year period! Still working on it!!!Hope you enjoy it! Sean Hogan
