A new rail modeller to Kilkenny and looking to meet people who have a similar interest.
  2. Hello all. I'm relative new to the whole Railway modelling community. I have some experience using's Hornby's DCC Railmaster software to control my trains but I'm finding it frustratingly annoying as it will not work with my Class A model which I recently bough. To this end I'm thinking there must be a system out there which is simpler which I could use. I'm pretty proficient with computer so I'd like to have something I can use on my laptop to control the DCC system. So far I've been looking at various options including the Bachmanns Dynamis System (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YgH37S-lxM&t=230s) or using iTrain (https://www.berros.eu/en/itrain/) software. The iTrain software would need a lot of other equipment to connect the track to I presume whereas the Bachmanns does not. Am I correct in this thinking? I'd like to get your thoughts on which systems would be best and of course affordable for a relative new comer to the the whole thing. I'm open to suggestions on other systems besides those mentioned above. I'd love to try before I buy also so if you know of anyone or company which would let me do that I'd appreciate their contact details. All recommendations welcome and thanks in advance for your help. 5. Ok that is all a bit much for me at the moment as I am new to this and these CV’s are still a struggle for me to understand. I have bought the Sound decoder for this now and the sound works great but yet again the lights are not working. I’ll make do for the moment until I have time later to rectify it. Thank you Noel Thank you also Tarabuses appreciate the help.
  6. Has anyone got a class 71 they want to sell. I’m particularly interested in the 077 or 078 or if you know anyone who is selling I’d be interested to hear from you. I’m also after some rolling stock, MK III’s with the “intercity’ white text on the sides. many thanks
  7. Noel that worked thank you. Just one other question. With this chip should the lights be working, do I need to do anything with the dip switches to get these light to turn on and off?
  8. Hi Noel thanks for coming back to me so quickly, so to reset the chip, CV8 (Manufacturer ID) I should change the "151" to 008, is that what you are saying?
  9. Hello all and apologies if this problem has been resolved else where, I'm new to the model railway scene. I have tried to find any topics which might relate to this, unsuccessfully. I have just bought the Class 121 - 130 Murphy Models loco and I also bought the MM0006 DCC chip to install in it. I'm using Hornby's railmaster pro to programme the loco but this is where I'm falling down. Initially when i programmed the train it worked, albeit the lights did not come on. The Primary address of the Loco is 003 but I wanted to change that to 130 so I could easily recognise it on the list of locos. This is where the issues arose. Once I rename the Loco ID to 130 it stopped working. Is there a way to reset the chip back to its factory settings? Has anyone else had this issue and how did you get over the issue? Any help would be much appreciated.
  10. Yes I'd definitely be in interested, especially in one that can span 4 tracks (00 Gauge) just like the image Westcorkrailway posted. I'm also interested in the one you posted. I'm new to building Railways but my intention is to model Kilkenny and Waterford Stations.
