  1. Hello folks, I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in collaborating with me to build a modular Model Railway in my attic. I've put together a revised plan of what I wanted to build, and I anticipate this will be a long term project. Needless to say as we build this layout you are more than welcome to run your trains on the layout and I'm open to any ideas on changing the layout. The image here is my second attempt to create something interesting. All comments welcome on the layout if you see anything glaringly obviously wrong with it. I'd like to make friends with the same interests as me whilst creating something amazing. It will be a DCC layout using iTrains to control the layout. I'm relatively new to iTains and the whole model railway hobby. I've also create a Youtube channel which I intend to document the whole process, allbeit i haven't posted a new video since Feb this year due to work commitments. I'm off for the month of Jan 2024 and I'll be building the Baseboards during this time. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBoclHgCkcTrUWKW5smRwzg If this interests you and you'd like to get involved please contact me and we can go from there. Oh by the way I'll located in the heart of the country side in South Kilkenny near Junction 10 on the M9. Regard Diarmuid
  2. I'd love to be there but I'm working. Damn!!!
  3. Thanks guys for all the information and help.
  4. BTW I contacted Petersspares and unfortunately they did not stock these. But all credit to them they got back to me within minutes of contacting them. 5* for Peters and Hornby.
  5. Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to contact Murphy Models for Spare parts. I am looking for a set of Bogies for the 5102 MK2 Coaches. There are no contact details on the MM website. Alternatively if anyone has a spare set of Bogies with the Couplings I'd be interested to hear from you. I temporarily fitted the IRM Sambre ET MEUSE Y33 Bogies but as you can see in the picture they are not the correct ones for this coach.
  6. Thank you I did contact them and they were very helpful. Just waiting for the bogies to arrive in the post now.
  7. Hello all, just wondering if anyone knows where I'd be able to get 2 sets of bogies for a Hornby Pullman coach. The Couplings on my one have broken off and I've tried to stick them back on without any success. I just want to replace the complete units on either end of the coach.
  8. I’ve published my second video. It’s an update to the first planning video. Had to redesign the layout because of some errors with inclines. Hope you like. I’ll try to keep the videos to a max of 10 mins from now on. Sorry the first video was way too long.
  9. Thank you folks. The software is only €49.00, not too bad I suppose.
  10. Hello folks, I’ve been fiddling about with my railway model for a few years now but finally had enough time to start planning it internist. I’ve started a YouTube channel to chart the progress of construction for this model railway which I am calling ‘Barnadown Model Railway’. Here’s the first video of me planning using AnyRail. I’d appreciate your constructive criticism as it’s my first video and want to make this channel as informative and entertaining as possible. thanks for watching.
  11. Ok thanks guys I’ll give that a try tomorrow
  12. Yes, it sounds two horns. latching set on, how would I switch that off?
  13. Hello all, just wondering if anyone has had this problem. I have the class 121 mm and the horn is constantly blowing. I tried to reprogram / reset using cv 008 to get the horn off but it just doesn’t work. Any help would be much appreciated.
  14. So would it be better to use code 75 or code 100 for the main line running of the trains?
  15. Out of curiosity, and I maybe showing my nativity/lack of experience here, why would you join Code 75 & 100?
  16. Thank you appreciate the response. So the Hornby is the code 75 I presume.
  17. Hi guys, Just wonder if you could clear up an issue I have. I bought standard train sets from Hornby which provided the track and rail joiners. Now as I'm expamnding my model railroad I have purchased Code 100 Peco Flexi track. They did not come with rail joiners and was wondering what is the size / code i should be ordering to allow me to join the Hornby tracks to the Peco Code 100. Also whats the difference between Code 100 & 75?
  18. Thank you guys I appreciate the advice and will take onboard all when buying the couplings. For those of you who may come upon this thread later looking for the Knightsbridge thread here is the link to it
  19. Hello all, I want to convert my Murphy models from the standard couplers to Kadee couplers. Just wondering if you have any recommendation on which Kadee couplings to use on the Class A 056 and the Class 121 murphy models and coaches. I've seen there are a number of different sizes, 17" to 20", which ones should I use for best results? Has anyone used the magnetic uncouplers also, are there any issues with these?
  20. Thank you everyone I appreciate the advice and I will definitely go for this. Noel you mentioned that the 5amp one if better for bigger layouts. The layout I'm going to build will be quiet large see attached image, which I'm in the planning stage of right now. I presume you would recommend the Pro for this or not?
