    The same flickering?

    Apparently so.

The 121s look amazing and they're incredibly good runners so far but I have several issues with them personally.

Firstly, there are no models released that ran between 1993 and 1998 which leaves me having to buy models to renumber and partially repaint to make them fit. But sure that's the way it goes.

Secondly, 129, the closest match as it got the IÉ livery in 98, so it wouldn't require any work, has the wrong lighting configuration. To my knowledge anyway.

Thirdly, the IR livery locos released never had the marker lights that the models have.

But this is nit picking really and I'm probably too hung up on what ran in what period but that's my thing as a rail enthusiast and modeller.

The quality issues are a major pain. I've bought two models and both models needed to be sent back. So to me it feels like a lottery of whether I get a fully functioning non damaged loco. Maybe I was just unlucky. I've never had this issue before with MM stuff.

The same flickering or the same incorrect red and white lights?

Both. All of the models have the wrong lights I'm told. Hopefully the flickering is just a one off quality issue.

Yeah that's poor QC at the factory. I assume the red LEDs are driven by the same decoder output so the fault must lie in the wiring from PCB to led or in the led itself or the common positive to that led but a RTR model shouldn't have such a defect. I'm sure MM will be equally annoyed with such things.

Yeah but my worry is that they're all the same. Someone else has the same issue on 129.

  3. Unfortunately my 129 has arrived with red marker lights where white ones should be. Are all of the 129 models the same?

One the bright side, both models look great.20201211201635_IMG_2652.thumb.JPG.e6110f6ca41f906f27a57c8feb0c6ffe.JPG

  4. Has anyone used the marker lights on 129 yet?

Apparently there's two reds and one white on each end which isn't right. Or is it?

  5. 082 is back after a two year absense. It donated its chassis too 112 for the passed two years.

112 has the old 2+1 marker lights whereas 082 had the 2+2 LED clusters which meant the marker lights on 112 didn't work after the swap. I since asmcquired an 071 very cheap with the 2+1 marker lights. This chassis is now under 112 and 082 now has its own chassis back.

Right, I'm off to change my underwear.

It's a lovely model. The handrails and a couple of other bits on mine were broken so unfortunately I have to exchange it.

Looking forward to 129 so I can have a pair.

  7. I'm hoping to finish off my MIR Guinness pallets this weekend. They are the older 60 keg version. Looking at photos it looks like they were painted a shade of blue when new (probably for Guinness branding). Can anyone advise on what colour I should paint them?

  8. 192 rests next to an Audi Quattro. 20201031204716_IMG_2209.thumb.JPG.0f10686191d75a45cc4eec251152e6ae.JPG

For the new layout I think I will go with something similar to the below. This layout is 4ft in diameter and it is N scale. My layout would be 6ft and OO gauge so roughly proportional.
