Very sad news, I met him only once during signal changing work at Glounthaune, he was a pure gentleman to talk to. May he rest in peace. I hope his vast collection of photo's will be somehow preserved for future generation.

Thanks Glenderg, I think I'll leave it a bit longer before trying something that drastic. Should have used Johnsons Klear but unfortunately you can't get it over here.

Quick question, I varnished my a class model last Thursday in preparation for adding decals, I used Winsor Newton Gloss Varnish from a spray can, one quick pass all round from about 12" away but its still not dry properly, did I do something wrong or is this normal can anybody shed some light, much appreciated.

Trains, Boats and Planes in Cork for me. 1982. Spent my hard saved cash on two Lima irish green coaches, signals and powered lima points. Got them for my Irish Freight Set bought in Dunnes the previous Christmas. Soon to be followed by a Class 25 freight set (with working loco lights!! And a Bernard Russell record) bought in the Monument House in Mallow the following Christmas.
Ah Trains, Boats and Planes, that brings back some memories, bought quite a bit of stuff in there myself. Called in there the last day it closed down and the builders who were gutting the place gave me a big box of old trains, needless to say I was a happy chappy. Sold it all later to my brother for the price of a ticket to see Queen at Slane '86.......

Superb display. The 80's has always been my favourite era in Irish railways, keep them coming.

[The possibilities of squashing foil to form things like beet wagon sides is distracting!]
Agreed the thought crossed my mind as well.

Fantastic stuff, you finished the roof very well, did you use the oven tray foil technique or is it card, either way it looks great.

Even more impressed now... All the vertical access ladders, stairways, pipe work and framing is exquisitly done.
Don't talk to me about ladders and stairways, nearly broke my heart!!
