  1. True life savings is a step to far lol but I would imagine by the time I get 208 & 8208 both types of Caf my 101 class and my c class the little EE shutters and my 450 & 80 I will be out a pretty penny and that's before Irish model baseboards builds my York rd layout lol it's getting scary thank god my wife doesn't realise what ££££ I'm spending
  2. thanks guys for the input I've enjoyed popping in to see what has been said. I myself don't have a lot of time on my hands with 5 kids so my first years of modelling have got of to a snails pace. So at present its just collecting loco's and dmus all NIR to begin with so no were near the same in collection size as Irish rail thankfully but do plan in the future to
  3. As for the cigarettes £8.76p which is £10 a day as you've spent the ten pound note
  4. Apologies warbonnet my intention was not to make anyone feel uncomfortable just merely to strike up a conversation to help bring back fond memories from child hood through to adulthood I understand and I think that most wood agree that my intention was not to make any body uncomfortable my apologies
  5. I was just looking at some layouts in that forum and it caught my attention the vast collection of rolling stock some modellers are privaliged to own Tara Junction being one of a few and it dawned on me how much money it must of cost some modellers. I know that there a lot of skilled modellers who can scratch build and kit build to a professional standard but still lots of money still spent I'm sure. How much has been spent if some were to think back I wonder ??
  6. trial & error I will try the tinfoil and report back with my findings
  7. I'm making an NIR 450 class guys and there's a lot of filling on the power car and a lot of the windows that were on the 150/1 are halved so I need to run the silver trim down the middle of the glazing. Was thinking paint Blaine but I don't think I would get the desired result
  8. Hello modellers I'm wondering how you recreate the silver lining around the windows or can this be purchased????
  9. Pva with a little smige of UHU mixed thru my art & design teacher swore by it cardboard friendly with that extra stick
  10. I think what some are saying is that cardboard from cereal boxes 48 years ago is of a far better quality than the cheap recycled cardboard cereal brands use today bit like toilet paper the cheap recycled supermarket stuff blocks drains the dear branded stuff breaks up and washes away.
  11. the 80 class 3 units I think, maroon & silver livery with Irish rail logos were in service south of the border on loan from NIR. Irish rail used the 3 units as one 9 car unit for the all Ireland final to keep up with demand. So there is hope for use as Irish rail 80class as well as NIR
  12. Shall do,it was a somewhat daunting thought for well over a year so I'm hoping it turns out the way I hope as I'm wanting to give the 80's a go next I like the thought of the yellow sandite Already the hornby donors purchased of eBay. Then it's the gatwicks with a little help on the paint from a very kind modeller.
  13. Amazing just how I like to remember them on the larne line
  14. When u feel that your hobbie is losing interest just look at some of these wonderful models & layouts and what can be achieved with some hard work and enjoyment love the hunslet it reminds me of it charging by Greenisland on Sunday ballast duties in the 80's wonderful
  15. Thanks guys for the advice I will post more pictures when I get the primer on. any tips on a good grade sanding block/paper for Milliput White
  16. I can't see the pictures on mobile site is there a reason for this ????
  17. My next move is cutting a cab end of and replacing it with a walk through door for middle coach. To complete the 3 coach set. I want to scratch build & complete from the 150/1's then il maybe buy a worsley works brass kit and compare the two sets
  18. Thanks ok I wasn't sure on primer as I'd read that the primer can affect the colour of paint. Il go for grey.
  19. My first ever time scratch building. I've tried my best at filling & sanding all the decals and filler so my next move is to spray primer. Is any grey plastic primer any good for red bull livery or should I maybe go for a white plastic primer. Have a good look at the photos guys and don't be afraid to provide some constructive comments as I've said its my first ever scratch build
  20. I mean any good modeller would happily spend hours painting there own BR RTR version and get hours of enjoyment doing so.
  21. I agree with dave182 although the livery in itself is skilled to some degree can't knock what silverfox is trying to produce but there is not much shape to the shunter so surley a plastic mould could not be that hard to produce ??? Maybe I'm wrong
  22. Try fifth kid all female I'm suprised I'm allowed out into the back garden nowadays lol
