Thanks Broithe that diagram is perfect
I was planning on going with a on-off-on switch.
I think for ease of wiring i might go with a SPST switch and keep a common black.

Can some one explain to me or show me in a wiring diagram for trains how each of these would work or what one is used for 2 controllers on a DC layout
for this post im using black and red for each rail
A SPST will break a single side of rail ? example either black or red depending on what's wired.
so only 1 wire is wired to the switch.
A SPDT will switch a single side of rail to a second controller? example either black or red depending on what's wired.
so only 1 wire is wired to both switch
By using this then the second wire is always fed through both controllers. - Would this cause a short circuit if both control a common wire together?
and
a DPDT will switch both rails to a second controller? example Both black and red.
so both wires are wired to both switch
which would swap complete control of both rails to each controller?
Do i have this correct?
If so im guessing you all use DPDT
and can someone show me or explain how that wiring would work.
Regards
Danny

Just to see what people think and to see who come sup with what.
What is the Smallest usable layout/shunting yard you can come up with.
Not smallest as in least amount of track but as in small like inglenook but different.

What card do you guys use for card buildings?
i do see that 1mm and 2mm is recommended for a lot of print and stick buildings but i cant find any anywhere.
Is mount card the best card to use?
Surely there has to be another alternative?

Started making a building front to go over the arches.
based off a prefab modular building i seen an image of online.
and while i was in lidl's the other day i saw a "grass" mat for camping and picked one up.
Placed some down today for a test.
also tried some sky blue enamel spray on the background doesn't show up very well in the photos.
but it does take the plain white/under construction look away a bit.
and through the carraiges to gauge the height with an old man standing at the front of the new grass hills/field.

Really great image.
Did you have much PP to do on that?
What setting were used?

Sometimes I think I am really useless at this. I have so many nearly finished bits lying about. I always seem to jump from one thing to another.
I am the very same.
swapping and changing between different ideas and have done projects

Yea i like Up yellow and grey, This baby will be my test model now that i will be able to buy myself a actual UP model in a few weeks.
I hope having a Ho loco with 00 Wagons wont be too much of a difference.

There is a lot to be said for decals.
Makes a bit of a difference.
Pity i haven't learnt to paint yet lol
Its funny the thing you learn and how you learn them.
If it wasn't for the decals i would never had know that the shape of the number 3 changed from straight top to curved top.
my eyes need more training lol.

I have to ask.. as a wannabe photographer how do you get around so much and get to see so much and get such great shots each time.
Im in awe at some of your great pics.
a little post but not much from what i can see.
Looking at the clarity of some of your pics.. do you use a tripod on the station.?

Hopefully coming to a shop near us in the not too distant future!! Thanks for the comments
I love that little baby as long as it can hold up to a bit of actual weather

Looking forward to hear more. i quite like the black one. looking forward to the tweaked version.

That is one beautiful Rake? How did you get your white lines so perfect.. are they transfers?
-
Where can i get a DC RTR like Number 135 all weathered like that fabulous stuff.

I lived in athy and never knew about this. i will have to make a trip down someday.
-
i am so loving this. cant wait to see it progress.
The thing i envy most about the rest of you guys is that you all have a clear plan and endgame to aim for, where im just winging everything lol

Checking them out on the layout before final touch ups

Awesome thanks for that. one of my all time favourite planes.
the rumble of the engine the shape of the wings and how agile it was for its time.
Such a beauty.

Thank you very much for that patrick .
it was a great explanation i love when people explain things just like that.
also gives food for thought. but i know its not just the level its at. you have a certain skill that blends your scenery rails and stock altogether that is VERY pleasing to the eye.
-
I don't think there's any need. "The Weather" will do all your weathering for you!
i think il have to unplug the station and let the dog roll it around in the much.
He done that with my cottages and they look a "little" better.
maybe if i painted it with the colours its already in and then it wont look so plasticy?

Exactly what i was thinking
Having a neutral like a brake instead of a always on whether you like it or not lol
