Looking for ideas for the white background and how to make use of it

You see on the left corner here will be some low releif building with a road and path so double o people can look over wall to the trains.

Need to come up with a way of making a weather proofed double engine shed.

  3. Yea the buildings are plastic. Put a light in the station. They are from the part works railway magezine from last year. No the platform is not treated. just sprayed grey. Needs to be redone. No weed killer sprayer. Only oned i have are from the caledonian belle hornby set.

Track is mains powered. Only gets wired up when using.

Havent really run it when it was really wet but runs fine when damp.

  4. So here are some Work in progress pictures of my 00 in the garden.

Used green hanging basket liner for the grass on the hill.

Some potted herbs and carpet spreading Alinpas to try cover the hill when it matures

Brown hanging basket liner between the tracks to make it look like dead grass.

And black nonslip tape along the side of the rails to try make it look like ballast

  5. For anyone one who has garden railways.

What real life plants/shrubs/trees do you use for your scale?

Do you restrict there growth to keep them close to scale?

Iv only started with with the garden and started using Alipnas and herbs to one fill empty space and 2 the herbs i got actually look and shape like trees. -- Pics to follow

But i would love to hear from those with experience if any that do garden rails in 00 or other.

  6. I have just finished the discovery channel series -
    and found it VERY interesting.

Although it was in a larger scale a lot of it can apply to 00 Gauge.

I'm sure you guys have seen it

    what did you think ?

Does any one know of anything else like this?

    What parts did you like?

cant imagine a garden railway in achill.. iv been there many a time and its not the best of weather lol

  7. Really enjoyed that. Not all the way through yet but more tonight. Not really into garden railways (they don't mix well with hurricanes;)) but a lot of the principles would be useful constructing indoors as you said

Im out of work sick so iv had plenty of "TV" time watch 15 episodes or so in a 2-3 days.

Hurricanes would make you want to have ruby slippers the wagons are that light f or that wind lol.

But even the "Simple" Wooden bridge he made himself with his A frames and add ons can for sure be brought inside.

  8. Yep - great series! I love the visits to other garden railways, including the legendary Bob Symes' home.

I picked up The Garden Railway Manual book by C J Freezer (http://www.bookdepository.com/Garden-Railway-Manual-CJ-Freezer/9781852604653), and have plans to get something going in the garden in the next couple of years. Currently halfway through a block workshop build - hope to get that completed this summer.

What gauge/scale will you be working in for your garden?

one issue i found today with 00 was the wind blows over wagons easy if they give a gust.

So many derailments over that today. had me running up and down the garden to try catch the trailing of rails wagons before entering a tunnel lol.

but today has been quite a gusty day.

  11. I have notived most garden setups have little to no scenery per se but i would like a little bit to take tbe empty look away.

I will bw wiring up most lengths with wire for connectivity.

Still in the planning and building baseboards. Have half of the track temp laid fir testing my spirit level

  12. Havent been around in quite awhile new baby came so no room in house no more.

So with that im putting my track outside.

Will be raised about 4 foot off tge ground in top if the dog run we have.

Im happen enough with whar iv got planned. Nothung major. Mostly a roundy roundy with a siding or two.

My question is to anyone on here who has a garden layout.

How would i weathet proof scenery ir what materials should i use if i start to scratch build buildings or stations.

The straight is on old scaffold boards that will be roof felted.
