Absolutely stunning Walter! You should share a few 'master classes' with how-to's and what 'bits' you have used to such great effect - might bump up sales!
The mud on the farm one - is that clay? Looks stunningly effective!
Yes i agree with a few how tos or tid bits on how to do or improve on things

Good to get pics with the outdoor sky. really helps.
Love seeing work in progress pictures.

Wont be able to make the Bray show this time round. last time i went i loved it.

repainted the station plat form and added bench's and people. testing the newly painted carriage beside it in place
-
wow they are beautiful. What size would they be?
What lights are you using on the back wall of the first one?
Im trying to make some of them.
-
I was looking to see if any of you have done diorama's and to see who would share there images and experiences in doing them.
Please feel free to post images for me to admire and to learn from.

Detonators are placed on railway lines by drivers and other railway staff and are detonated by the pressure of a train passing over them, emitting a loud bang which serves to alert drivers to specific issues.
Anyone familiar with when/how these would be utilized more specifically than in the article?
I actually heard and saw these for the first time in a program on you tube "extreme railways" with Chris Tarrant.
The idea of those explosives is brilliant.

Stick (ahem) with the Tamiya, does not leave residue and if you gently apply it it wont bleed
And that can be pushed in to corners with tooth picks and not leave gaps.. as in its a little stretchy for that ?
-
Amazing detail.. how you have the patience and knowledge to do it i will never know.

Just got a tip about using ordinary document tape which is much cheaper. This advice comes from an very experienced modeller in Sweden. I haven't tried it yet as i only got the advice a few days ago but want to share it.
Never heard of document tape .. time to do some goggle fu
-
Where are you based?
-
@ Blaine - Im just using the cheap one from Deals. it worked fine on first carriage but not on second one.
@Ritchie i will give that a shot at reducing the tackiness.
Ok so for stripping off ALL paint off of a carriage what is the best most effective but cheap way to do it ?
-
So im trying to repaint my second carriage and am failing miserably.
I painted on base coat let dry over night put masking tape on to mark out a line il paint white.
paint the white line and then try pull off the masking tape to reveal a lovely white line but the base coat is getting peeled off the carriage with the masking tape.
Any ideas on how to prevent this?
What preparation should i be doing on the carriage before painting?

Chevron,
Always interested in customer feedback and based on the last few, I'll be providing roundals and snails seperately.
In the interest of product improvement, what is it with the look of the snails that you don't like?
Its not YOUR snails i don't like its the snails in general i dont like.
I don't model on specifics or on realism just on what i like. and i prefer the roundals over the snails.

Transfer /Decals
Where do you guys get your CIE decals?
I'm looking to get some but cant find a source anywhere. apart from http://www.studio-scale-models.com/TLocos.shtml
Just looking for roundals i dont like the look of the snails.
-
I knew it would be an easy one for you folks lol

Fantastic looking pictures. Great work.

Hi Eoin
I'm new to loco lighting so please forgive what is probably a daft question. How are fibre optics used in model locos? Do folks not just fit tiny LEDs through holes drilled in loco bodies?
Noel
Yes id love to hear how any of you have used fibre optics in models.
-
Thanks for all the good comments and encouragement guys.
And yes im happy enough with it. the flaws cant be seen when whizzing by outside lol
-
A close up of the test fit after adding a second white stripe at the top and an excuse to use my macro lens adapter
worse part is it shows the mistakes and flaws and white leaks
-
So i haven't modelled or done kits or even painted anything in 20+ years when i was into air-fix
Was always terrible at it.
now that i have some stock and paints Thanks to jhb171achill
i started to break down and repaint a cheap MK1 i got from the start of the model railway village magazine last year or so.
And this is how its starting to look now
Yes its based off the CIE colours but not strictly to the design as i dont think they had MK1's. i wouldnt even know an mk1 if i saw one in the flesh. i only know because of the magezine lol but to the un"train"ed eye like mine its looks like it could be CIE.
Edit
In the first repaint job you can see where the white leaked and black was stripped off the body by the masking tape.
That was fixed for the second shot

testing out a macro lens i got for my phones camera.
i think i got the right plants for scale foliage
Staples need to be touched up with black paint a job for a dry day.
