Heirflick,

kirley,
very impressive, great shed, lovely woodwork.
I had huge problems in the beginning of my layout with gradients, at one stage it looked like I would have to take down at least 2 levels.
the problem for me turned out to be the peco track, brand new out of the box, there seemed to be an oil on the rail.
I was having problems running trains with 20 wagons(box vans). now i can run 85 plus, took a bit of cleaning with the track but i got there in the end.

kirley,
you hit the nail on the head, for me, it's all about the 'running of trains'.
thanks for the comments

The idea behind the multi levels was to have 3 levels of storage and the top 2 levels for scenery.
It means I can run 8 trains on each track, and I can stand in the scenery section and watch them go by.
Makes me feel like a trainspotter.

kirley,
since the hobo ride was taken i've put in 2 and a half levels above the starting point.
i'll try and do another one from the bottom right to the top, however it could be quite boring at 30 mins.

I airbrush after I ballast it tidys everything up,
I use 3 different colours, light tan, tan and a red brick red.

Boskonay,
I use diluted glue in a large syringe with a needle. I apply the glue between sleepers one at a time then drop the ballast into place, then blow away the surplus. I do approx 6 inches of double track at a time....... it's up there with watching paint dry. This way it dries in about 4 hours and it's not as messy as the traditional way.

I use wet wipe hand cleaners and just keep wiping it down.
any new engines wipe the wheels down before you run them (particularly Helgan)
