  10. Can't wait to get my hands on one of his Black'n'Tan livery ones and a super train livery. Can run them as a pair nose2nose or singly. A little out of my era but an Irish rail broken points logo with the dual tippex seems an essential 121 livery to have. That's 3 plus 1961 delivery grey is a must for any collector, that makes 4.
  11. Yes and I have quite a few 2 axle wagons using Dapol RTR donor chassis. They all had droopy NEM pockets. Stiffning them up was necessary for kadee's by filing the screen lug shorter. The dapol NEM pocket doesn't need to be able to pivot for use with Kadee's successfully. I even considered supergluing the dapol NEM coupling mounts to the chassis rather than using a screw. Eliminates two more holes to be drilled.
  12. Cheers Robert. I could 100% dry out the proposed seeds slowly over the kitchen stove for a couple of weeks, and then perhaps varnish them to seal them and let them dry out on some grease proof paper before making load inserts. What seeds have other folk successfully used on their beet wagons?
  13. Just starting another Provincal Wagons kit. This time a single beet wagon. Preliminaries include removing flashing from resin parts, fettling under wagon floor so that chassis block fits nicely, drilling and screw fitting NEM coupling pockets to under chassis block, and a little filing and sanding. Might make a few modifications as I have some dart castings heavy buffers in the toolbox for the later CIE iterations of these wagons. Enjoying this. Tomorrow the break gear has to be fabricated and fitted. Happy days during CV19 confinement. All the parts prepared A little fettling needed to get the under chassis to fit snuggly into the base of the wagon floor. NEM coupling pockets mounted and adjusted to avoid the classic dapol coupling droop (ie by filling the screw stock a little shorter so the coupling is tight). Kadee's work better this way on 2 axle wagons. This is another test run for future builds of these wagons.
  14. A miley from Glenroe used to say “Well Holy God”. That Michael D’Angelo chap from Tinahealy was never as good as that.
  15. This whole thread has been totally inspiring and educational. A great shame much of its wonderful treasure was lost to photobucket’s self destructing a few years ago. What hidden treasures lurk beneath the blank PB links?
  16. For reference purposes these double beet wagon kits are supplied by http://www.provincialwagons.com/cie-wagons/
  17. Oh that looks very nice Graham. Any photo of the pickups? Looks the part and very CIE. It well exceeds the 2ft rule.
  18. Had a look at some of those on their site, they have O gauge and even gauge 1 samples! Due to the panelled nature of MGWR coaches I'd hazard a guess that it is nigh impossible to improve the surface texture much due to raised panels, etc, and MGWR wagons are difficult to do a crisp paint job on for the same reasons. Hand brushing does not yield good results especially lining the raised panels. If they were available in Shapeways FUD material (ie like Neil's 42ft container flats), I'd be tempted but WSF material not great for raised precision surface detail (toothpaste effect). Brass commissions seem the only viable option for decent models of MGWR 6 wheel coaches..
  19. . . . Horray
  20. PS: WMRC could do with a few nice Irish O gauge locos to run on their massive Little Siddignton O gauge layout. A few MRSI built brass 141s and A classes could look well running on LS.
  21. Magnificent beast
  22. Almost finished. Waiting for some green fungus to grow on it.
  23. Almost finished. More kits are on the way. Enjoyed working on this kit the past few days. Added hanging vacuum pipe and fitted kadee no 18 couplings to the supplied NEM pockets. Perhaps tomorrow I might add a little green fungus near the floor sides Was trying to get that old dustbin colour look (ie grey coming through what used to be original red bauxite colour after some years of weather ageging) Ordered 5 more. This was a test build so I could figure out how to put it together and finish it. A very nice little kit. (sea I maniged not to reefer to it as a beat wagon, even dough it sounds like beet).
  24. You're very kind. Looking forward to working on the other 5 in due course.
  25. Useful advice. So never point the canon in the direction of travel except on a dual cab diesel loco.
